Perfection, except for the fabric

(Avid Cyclist) December 1, 2012

The chamois is unbelievably good. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing one when I walk around, yet it is extremely comfortable for hours on the bike. The fabric breathes well and stays in place, the waistband and legs fit snugly and stay put without being tight. The one disappointment is that the fabric catches and pulls. I had fuzzy pilling all over the rear end of BOTH shorts after the first wearing of each pair.(None of my other shorts have done this.)It is a sign of how fabulous they are otherwise that I am continuing to wear them and hope I can stay far enough ahead (or behind) my group for no-one to notice!

Great shorts, Great Deal!

(Avid Cyclist) November 16, 2012

I think Sugoi makes some of the best bike clothing out there. Their shorts (and tights, knickers, jackets) are my go to pieces, especially for long rides. They are comfortable and they hold up well. When I saw a two for one deal on their shorts, I couldn't pass it up. These are actually higher end than the ones I already own. If you don't want to spend this much on shorts (assuming the sale is over), their less pricey shorts are also great!

White is See-through

(Avid Cyclist) January 26, 2012

These seemed like they would be good shorts. However I had to return them because the white was just TOO see-through. Especially given that it curves up around the back. If it had just been on my legs, that would be fine, but not across the back.

Disappointed

(Avid Cyclist) January 26, 2012

Disappointed in fit and support. Poor construction stitching on pad was inset too far creating a 1/4" to 3/8" "flap" on the edge of the pad, that chafed (for me). I like Sugoi products - have other shorts (made in Canada) that are much better. Maybe I just had a poorly made pair

Disappointed

(Avid Cyclist) January 13, 2012

I ordered these based on reviews and own other Sugoi shorts. These were very disappointing. The material was flimsy compared to the padding and the stitching on the padding was too far in and after washing left a rim of the padding lifting up away from the shorts. I bought these on sale - ?? not always sure sale items will be up to par. I won't wear these on long rides. Will use my other Sugoi shorts. Maybe I just got some from a poorly made batch.

worth the money

(Casual/ Recreational) September 2, 2011

Bought these trying to find something comfortable while training for my first 100 mile ride. These are by far the best I have ever had. All others I had tried seemed to be good for about 35-45 miles but I was doing 60-75 mile rides in these with no discomfort. Finished the 100 mile ride last weekend and was not bothered by my seat at all and had no post ride soreness (in the seat area that is)Definately a must have for long rides.

No comparison

(Avid Cyclist) June 21, 2011

I've been training for a 454 mile ride across Iowa for a couple of months. I've tried two other brands, but have found these to be far superior. The padding is just the best. I've been training in all kinds of weather and have found them to be comfortable no matter what the conditions. They dry quickly and after a recent 52 mile ride I had NO chafing. Ride on and buy these shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) June 6, 2011

After using many different shorts, this is the one I totally rely on. It's spoiled me for the others: the fabric breathes yet supports like a compression short, it feels sleek, and the chamois is good.

Disappointing

(Avid Cyclist) June 3, 2011

For the money, these shorts are a disappointment. Maybe I just like a tighter feel, but they seem sort of loosey-goosey. The fabric just doesn't give me the support I like in a bike short. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't buy them.

Very comfortable.

(Avid Cyclist) May 25, 2011

I love cycling, but find almost all cycling shorts very uncomfortable. This is the most comfortable pad that I've found. It's not too bulky at all. The shorts are also well ventilated. Wish they were a little more flattering, but when you're on a bike for hours, you have to go with comfort!

Comfortable for long rides

(Avid Cyclist) April 4, 2011

I wore these shorts for the first time on a 28 mile bike ride. Despite hours in the saddle these shorts helped me to be comfortable the whole time. The elastic around the legs did not irritate my skin or hurt at all. These shorts do have a lot of padding however and look funny in the front as a result. However, the main thing was that I was comfortable for 28 miles!! I would definately recommend these shorts.

Bliss and Heaven!

(Avid Cyclist) April 1, 2011

I have struggled to find the perfect seat and knicks combination. I was going on a touring ride for several days and needed a new pair of knicks, so read the reviews on TE looking for knicks that might solve my chafing issues. These caught my eye, as many people had commented favourably on this particular attribute.

I bought them and headed off on my ride, on a new bike, with a new seat on which I had previously ridden for only 4 minutes (quite foolhardy really). I was not disappointed. Obviously the new seat was an improvement on the old one, but coupled with these knicks I did 250km in just a few days without a moment of discomfort.

Liked them so much that when my mother came looking for a suitable present to buy me for my birthday, I suggested another pair of these!

great material, good compression

(Avid Cyclist) April 24, 2010

I am training for a century. These shorts offer a great fit. I really like that the leg length is longer than other shorts and stays in place. The material is more substantial than most, feels good on the skin, is not see-through like some shorts, and offers great supportive compression on the muscles. The chamois is pretty good but not as completely comfortable as the Pearl Izumi Symphony.

Great shorts

(Avid Cyclist) April 11, 2010

I ride mountain bike in Santa Monica's where weather is most likely hot. I am in my 50's and my problem is overheating so I always try to find light fabric shorts. I also don't like "diaper" type of chamois because when you ride mountain bike, you are often out of the saddle. Trying to restart on a rocky terrain hill the last thing you want is the chamois to be in your way (like catching on the saddle and preventing you from clipping in while negotiating technical climb). This chamois is perfect. Cushy, protecting but not in my way. Shorts are breathable and stylish.

Love the short

(Avid Cyclist) April 11, 2010

I love the short. It feels great on the skin. The one review that will tell you the truth. I am not your average woman cyclist. I weigh more than 160+. I have another Sugoi short with only 8 panels. The 10 panels in this short has more compression. The chamois is wonderful, If you sit back on your seat this will be perfect for the sit bones. I do a lot of tour rides 62 miles+, It feels just as good at mile 62 that it does when you get to mile 1.

not the shorts for me

(Avid Cyclist) March 26, 2010

I returned these. I'm kind of curvy, and the white side panel did nothing good for me. The fit felt too small - I ordered the same size I always get and I've been losing weight lately, so it's not that I was being optimistic in sizing. The white part was also see-through. Too bad, the padding seemed really cool.

Oh, Thank Goodness!

(Avid Cyclist) March 7, 2010

I bought these shorts based on the ratings and reviews and I was NOT disappointed! They are wonderful cycling shorts and worth every penny. I had been experiencing a lot pain with my other shorts and was reconsidering if I could and should continue training for a century in June. With these shorts, I had no discomfort on a recent 45 mile ride, no chafing, no irritation at all. The contoured padding is excellent - soft against the skin, but kept me cushioned and I did not feel like I had a diaper between my legs. I plan on buying a second pair with my next paycheck. Love these shorts!

Wow! What a difference!!

(Avid Cyclist) September 22, 2009

Did I say it already?!? Wow!! I have owned a couple different pairs of shorts. Neither cost over $70.00. I always wondered if spending a little more would make a difference. Wow!! From the minute I tried them on, I knew they were better than any other short I had ever worn. The pad seemed to fit my shape perfectly. It didn't feel as though I was wearing a matress on my butt. It just conformed very well. The material from which the shorts are made was extremely comfortable to wear. I couldn't wait for the weekend so I could ride with them. They did not disappoint me at all. I had been using Chamois Butt'r to help with chafing problems. I took a ride in the mountains, which usually causes more chafing, without any Butt'r. I had NO chafing or any other discomfort. Well worth the [$]. Spending more, at least in this case, definately got me a better pair of shorts. I love them!!

My best shorts

(Avid Cyclist) September 11, 2009

I own 2 pr of black. They are my favorite shorts, I always make sure at least one of them is ready to wear. I always reach for these on any ride over 25 miles, and have ridden many, many 100 milers in them too. The short fabric is like none other that I own. Holding it up to the light, you can see through the 'mess' like fabric (but you can't 'see through' them when some is following you and you are bent forward riding on the bike, if you know what I mean). These shorts are really fabulous in warm weather riding. The fabric is so different to the touch and feel that when you first start wearing them you are aware that they touch the skin with a different feel. They are thin, but very durable. I really like the pad. Plenty thick, but not diaper-like thick. The pad dries quickly too. Some pads I feel I need chamois creams, but this pad I can ride without any. There is no chaffing at all. I'm not fond of all the white outer seams on the back, I prefer them to be just plain. The leg bands are very comfortable on these shorts. No sausage roll legs. I am 5'4" and 121 pounds and wear a small, and that is perfect size in these shorts. Highly recommend these. I tried the white/black ones, but thought the white fabric placement accentuated the rear and thighs. Oh, and they fit nicely under long tights too, not too bulky.

Magic Shorts

(Avid Cyclist) August 11, 2009

First I ordered a pair in white (just because I wanted white shorts), then I saw them in brown, so I ordered them, and finally: black and white.
