Evolution Shorty

#SU-38291F-BLK-L
$89.95
#SU-38291F-BLK-L

All the features of Sugoi’s Evolution Short, but shorty-er! Two inches off the inseam (from eight to six inches) means a greater range of movement, and a bolder look, and a better tan? The chamois and fabric are supportive, comfortable, and chafe-free while the new no grippper leg openings provide a smooth transition.

FIT NOTE: Fit Note: Customer feedback has indicated that these shorts are running slightly large. Please check the sizing chart; if you are between sizes, or if you prefer a snugger fit, you might consider ordering the smaller size.

Renata says: "No matter how much they update the Evolutions, they ARE my favorite cycling shorts! The biggest change this year is no leg grippers! Hallelujah! I am amazed at how nicely the leg bands stay put with no constriction. The chamois is narrow, yet very dense so I can ride a full century comfortably, and the fabric is supportive, but not too tight. The waistband stays put, yet it has a nice amount of stretch for comfort. Good work Sugoi! Yes, they are incredible!

  • EvoPlus denier gradient breathable fabric for moisture wicking and high output performance and comfort
  • 3D contoured RC Pro chamois with V Control padding for dampening, and strategic perforations for temperature and moisture regulation
  • flat seams and 8 panel design combine for a low profile contoured fit
  • comfort waistband construction with cross front waist detail
  • powerband and leg cuffs provide slip free comfort without constricting your thighs

Chamois troubles

(Casual/ Recreational) July 8, 2014

I really love the cut and performance of the material of these shorts. They don't compress too much, which I really like and they don't ride up. There's a little slippage in the waist band, but nothing terribly annoying. Unfortunately, the padding doesn't really work for me. At the beginning of a ride--especially after they've been washed--the shorts feel great: the padding is in the right place and nothing shifts during standing maneuvers. But, as I reach the 5-8 mile mark, the padding begins to shift when I get up off the saddle for sprints or hill climbs. And when I sit back down, the padding becomes a distraction, most often feeling like a wedgie.

  • Comfortable
  • Dries Quickly
  • Good Fit
Cons
  • Odd Padding

My new favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) June 13, 2014

I was trying to find a new pair of substantially padded bike shorts for a century ride and after many bike shorts woes, this was my magical pair. I originally ordered this in a size small as TE suggested it was running large--I do not agree. Size small on me was somewhat sheer, as the fabric is light weight and has a kind of grid pattern to it (not really visible except when stretched) which provides the great cooling affect) so I returned and ordered a medium which was perfect. Great padding, great for warm/hot weather rides, very comfortable. I would absolutely buy another pair. For size reference, I'm 5'5", 133 lbs. with muscular (ahem, big) thighs.

Pros
  • Breathable
  • Comfortable
  • Good Fit
  • Good Padding
  • Great In Hot Weather
Cons
Uses
  • Long Rides
  • Warm Weather
  • Waist: Feels true to size
  • Length: Feels true to length
