Fine, after I went to the seamstress

(Avid Cyclist) April 22, 2014

I live in Minnesota, and cycle as long as the ice is gone from the roads - that means the temps have been as low as 10F when I'm cycling. I was in need of a pair of long tights for transition months (where I didn't want to deal w/ leg warmers). I'm 5'6, these pants were 4 inches too long for me - I took them to my seamstress and turned them into capris instead. The pad is SO bulky that it seems to end at my knees! Finally, the tights are of much more... porous fabric than your regular lycra shorts - these are more akin to a thin Terry T-shirt short fabric. Which all means they are fine in the 40s and 50s, but not any good if lower temps or a significant wind.

I LOVE Shebeest tops - they are my favorite, but I've learned that I'm sticking with PI for my shorts.

(ordered 2X)

  • Dries Quickly
Cons
  • Too Much Padding

Mixed sizing, for me

(Casual/ Recreational) December 18, 2013

I admit I'm new to "tights" in bike wear. In Texas, my much beloved SheBeest bike shorts take me almost year-round. But I do also ride in weather in the 40s and 50s, so I thought I would try the tights.

First, know that when they say "tights," they mean like hose, not like leggings. And not the same material as the bike shorts, but rather something much thinner. I guess that would be great if you were seriously racing and needed something barely there. But for larger gals like myself, it's a bit indiscrete.

I have a much smaller waist than most women my size, so the waist isn't snug at all. But I also have much, much larger legs than most women my size, so the 2x barely fit my larger legs. (calves = 21 inches around)

I'm keeping them, but I wish I liked the fit and material better.

Pros
Cons
  • Poor Fit
Uses
  • Waist: Feels too big
  • Length: Feels true to length
