It is the Bomb!

(Avid Athlete) July 22, 2014

When I first put on these shorts I thought the padding may be too thick but after my first ride I could tell it was perfect. I like this padding because it is padded on the little side panels that fit in the crease where your leg meets your crotch and prevents the material from bunching up, pinching, and rubbing the inside of your leg. Very comfortable! I used to wear the Terry Bella Short but I think I like the Sheebest Century Elite short better.

Great for long-distance rides!

(Avid Athlete) July 19, 2014

I've worn Shebeest triathlon shorts for medium (30- 60) to long (80-100) mile rides on my touring bike (with a Terry touring saddle), but needed a more padded short for 60+ rides on my carbon bike with a Bontraeger saddle. These fit the bill perfectly, after adjusting for sizing differences between the Century Elite and the triathlon shorts. With 37" hips, I'm comfortable in Shebeest's medium triathlon short, but the Century Elite fit is looser, and I had to size down to a small. Unlike the tri shorts, the firm foam chamois is only attached around the edges and sort of "floats" within the short (which contributes to a serious "diaper" look off the bike - oh well!). On the plus side, a thinner version of the seamless padding wraps well down inside the inner thigh, which definitely helps to prevent chaffing. The fabric is somewhat compressive (once I sized down) without being difficult to get on and off, and the leg grippers do the job without digging into the thighs. Tested them out on a quick 50 mile ride on my Domaine, and it was the most comfortable 50 miles to date!

Great shorts for distance!

(Avid Athlete) July 16, 2014

I own quite a few shorts, including an older pair of Shebeest shorts. These are a big improvement over the older Shebeest.

The material is lighter weight than my older Shebeest shorts, and much more comfortable with a moderate amount of compression. I never noticed the waist band or the chamois on my first ride, the 160 mile Ride Across Indiana (RAIN). That is exactly what I want on a long ride - shorts that simply "disappear" from my thoughts so I can enjoy the ride.

I'll be buying another pair or two of these which I think are now my favorite shorts.

Well designed, comfortable, grt chamois

(Competitive Athlete) June 30, 2014

Bought these shorts for long bicycle rides. They are comfortable, nicely padded without being diaper-like. Grippers grip without being unpleasant; shorts stay put, don't chafe. According to the measurements chart, though, I should be a L; the XL fits perfectly.

The Best Cycle Shorts

(Gym Rat) June 16, 2014

I had ordered these for long ride training leading up to a 208 mile ride (217 in the end!) in one day! They felt really good during my weekend Century rides that I ordered two additional pairs for the big day (for changing). They were great! Padding is extra thick! Absolutely no issues! I highly recommend.

Just love it

(Avid Athlete) May 30, 2014

That bike short is by far the best I never got. Last version of the century short had problem with the elastic waist band that was to tight (to fit ok, I had to buy large but the short was too loose)but they replaced it by a large waist band that just fit perfect. Very comfortable padding with no friction spot. I usually develop sores with every other bike short that I tried. I'am doing century and the short is confortable for all the ride. Just love it

The best shorts ever, really

(Avid Athlete) May 22, 2014

I've been an avid cyclist for over 20 years and have tried many different brands of shorts. These truly are the best I've found. Everything about them is spot on: fit, length, construction, chamois. The one nit I have is that the chamois is a bit on the thick side, but not uncomfortably so. Even though these shorts are a bit pricey, they're still a great value.

2nd pair bought

(Avid Athlete) August 6, 2013

I now have 2 pairs of these shorts. I've tried many brands of shorts, and these are the only ones that have a chamois that is comfortable. Incidentally, I also tried the shebeest shelastic chamois shorts, but that chamois rubs the leg creases. I'm trying to sell them, along with pearl izumi bottoms. Also, the pocket on the Century Elite is handy for a small wallet or key. My big wish is that they would make the same chamois in knickers or tights.

Best shorts - hard to find

(Avid Athlete) June 2, 2013

I went back and forth on ordering these - the reviews were great (and spot on), but the price was high. After my first 109 Century ride yesterday, I am SO happy I spent the money on them. I would spend double the amount.

FIT- the XS fits great. I'm a size 2 with narrow hips. Other shorts feel big and diaperish on me. The panels are perfect and the chamois is very padded, but constructed in a way that fits close to the body and doesn't bulge out.

RIDE - After feeling great putting them on, I got onto the bike and was astounded at the feeling. No discomfort and felt like I was riding on a cloud. Did 30+ miles and 20+ the next day without any type of pain. During the century, my saddle was the last thing I was worried about - no pain day after!

CONSTRUCTION - very solid and good quality. No idea why there's a drawstring on these shorts. They fit really snug so I can't imagine anyone needing this. I pulled it out and it's now flat and seamless at the waist (the way it should be!). Pocket in back fits a modern cellphone - amazing!

If you're biking over 50+ miles buy these shorts! Your lady parts will thank you.

good for long rides

(Casual/ Recreational) May 13, 2013

This is my third pair of the century elite bike shorts. I particularly wear them on bike trips when I am on the saddle all day because of the "padding". They also dry overnight if one is traveling.

The Beest!

(Competitive Athlete) May 22, 2012

I just started training for a 70 mile bike ride and all the other shorts I bought fell "short". I hated to spend more money on more shorts but these are the BEEST! I wore these to ride 60 miles on the weekend, GREAT! Then today I wore some others I have for just a 20 mile ride, I could tell a huge difference! I love these shorts and now seeing them on sale and my size out of stock, I hope they aren't going to quit carrying them!

The Best Serious Mileage Short Ever!

(Competitive Athlete) January 17, 2012

This is the most comfortable cycling short I have owned - and I've tried most of the well-known and respected brands. it is the short I've always been looking for and hoped to find and the only one to which I've given 5 stars. The name is apt - it is great for long distance events and training and for racing, as it is particularly good for providing cushioning when you are spending lots of time on the drops. The material is great - it gives good support, is light in weight and has stylish good looks. I usually take a Medium size but Renata advised a Small which is a great fit. I'm 5'5" tall and the leg length is just right. Another nice little touch my other shorts don't have is the zippered pocket which is more useful than I'd ever have thought.

Service comments: Yes to all the above.

Great shorts for long rides

(Avid Athlete) October 31, 2011

Got two pairs to wear at Paris Brest Paris ride (750 miles in 4 days). No sores this time. 8 years ago on the same ride. Seat area looked like hamburger. The pad is dark grey. Pads that are light blue, pink, light green, YELLOW are not attractive when trying to dry your shorts on trips. I hope manufactures will understand this fact someday soon.

a lot of padding

(Avid Athlete) October 31, 2011

I own a lot of cyclying shorts and if you are looking for a product with a lot of padding then this is it. I went down a size(M)as my measurements were in between but I like my shorts firm on my legs (and I don't have small legs). Compared to my other shorts the waist is a little low but its ok. If you are doing duatalons I wouldn't reccommed running in these shorts only because there would be too much padding. The other thing that I liked about these shorts is the inseam of the chamois runs down the leg a little so you don't get any rubbing.

Awesome shorts!

(Avid Athlete) September 27, 2011

After many years of riding, developed a nagging issue with saddle sores while training for a century, which was solved with these shorts. Padding extends further out than other shorts, so there is no chafing, plus the padding itself is plush. Thanks to these shorts, I finished the century with no butt issues!
