Sandy says: "This is one of my favorite all-around shorts. The padding is perfect for me - I especially like that there aren't any seams anywhere close to my saddle contact area. The fit is nice, the silicone leg grippers don't grab, and the fabric is compressive without being, well, oppressive."

Fulfill my needs

(Avid Cyclist) July 16, 2013

I ride at least 20 miles per day so the shorts get a lot of use. The only complaint that I have is that after repeated washings the stitching around the pad sometimes gets frayed and the inside of the pants gets "pilly". However, I have tried MANY different brands and these are definitely what I prefer!

Very comfortable shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) June 1, 2013

I have several pairs of Pearl Izumi but recently they aren't comfortable. I decided to try the Sheebeast based on recommendations on this site. I was NOT disappointed! My first day in them we went out for a 3 hour mtn bike ride and I had no chafing, no discomfort, and the fit was perfect. I washed and wore them every day we went riding because they were SO much more comfortable than my Pearls. I am ordering more today.

The only shorts I'll use!

(Avid Cyclist) May 19, 2011

These are far and away the best bike shorts I've ever tried. Period. After buying an older pair a few years ago, I noticed they were the only ones that held up on long rides. Now I have three pairs and I can do 90+ mile rides on consecutive days without chaffing or discomfort. The chamois is the best and truly contoured for women. The high waist makes it comfortable on long rides and doesn't cut off circulation. I also like that the short material is soft and not the shiny lycra look. I will be buying my fifth pair of these soon!

Good shorts for reasonable price

(Avid Cyclist) May 15, 2011

Really happy with these shorts because they have a good multi-density chammy without seams on the inside of the thighs. I am prone to saddle sores and these shorts are the best I've tried. The price is unbeatable for the quality that you get. My $155 Specialized Pro shorts are now hanging in the closet collecting dust. I liked these so much I ordered 3 pairs.

Not as great as I expected

(Avid Cyclist) May 14, 2011

I bought these shorts based on the high reviews because I was disappointed with my many years wearing my all-time favorite Pearl's Short Attack until they changed the padding to that royal blue. The leg band on the SS shorts I felt were too tight and gave me that saugsage leg look and I'm a size 2. After a 50+ hilly road ride the padding did not keep me from hurting and that upset me - the old Pearl shorts I could ride centuries with no problem. I was hoping I found my new favorite shorts with these and they are not. They are good but not great like the reviews say. I will wear them because I've spent the money and maybe after time they will work for me. In the meantime when my funds permit I will continue to look for that favorite pair of shorts.

Pros
  • Durable

  • Sausage leg look
  • Not Enough Padding
  • Leg Band Too Tight

(Avid Cyclist) April 22, 2011

These may very well become my favorite bike shorts...not only do they fit well they also look great. The fabric is a nice weight and the padding feels just right. I was a bit concerned that they would be too short but the length is good, not to short and not too long.

Very glad I found these shorts

(Casual/ Recreational) April 18, 2011

I really like how these shorts fit - they are incredibly comfortable and don't pinch or roll on you. The leg grippers don't leave marks on your thighs. I live in a very humid climate and they are the first pair to dry on the line after washing. The chamois is thinner than the PI chamois but still thick enough to protect your sit bones.

Best Purchase!

(Casual/ Recreational) September 17, 2010

This was my first purchase of cycling shorts, and I chose them based on other reviews. After wearing these, I can say I will never go back to not wearing cycling shorts. They are so comfortable! The chamois does not feel like a diaper, as I feared it would. I was also afraid they would be too short but the length was perfect and they stay right where they are suppose to. I have only worn these on shorter rides, around 20 miles, but can imagine wearing them for much longer. I whole heartedly recommend these!

Very Comfortable

(Avid Cyclist) September 2, 2010

I wore these on a HOT (103 degree) 65 mile ride. I was pleased they kept me cool and dry, and the chamois was comfortable. I would buy another pair except for the silicone grippers. They really irritated my legs and I had a rash for several days afterward. I know this is a personal thing, so if you don't react to the silicone, I'd definitely purchase these!

My favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) June 17, 2010

I needed shorts badly and am very picky as I'm training for a bike tour through the mountains. So I ordered about five different brands and tried them all on. The best two, I then rode in. The Shebeest Triple S was the winner. Comfortable, excellent fit, no sore spots at all! Towards the end of the ride the leg grippers were mildly annoying (but at the end of 100 miles, EVERYTHING is annoying) so I just folded them up my leg so the gripper was on the outside and it was fine. I really like these shorts and will be buying a second pair soon.

This was the first pair of shorts I purchased over $40.00 and I love them. Don't get me wrong, I have others that are great as well and very expensive ...... I keep coming back to these. I like them so much, I give them as gifts to friends entering the world of cycling.

nice, great fit, love the chamois but...

(Avid Cyclist) May 31, 2010

1st - I have owned these shorts (3 pairs) for over 6 mths. The fit is great & love the chamois.

I have tried to be very careful when washing. However, they are already pilling & in 1 pair, the stitching around the chamois is starting to unravel. I'll probably switch to a different brand but have enjoyed my purchases until now. Also, I'll use a special bag when I put the future shorts in the washer (I definitely already use "gentle cycle").

love 'em

(Casual/ Recreational) September 20, 2009

I have worn this pair twice already for rides that lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hrs on a single track (in hot humid weather). I have found this pair very comfortable. First time i used without butt paste and only got a little chafing in the girly area. Second time I used the butt paste and came way w/o any chafing. I believe I'll be getting rid of my Pearl Izumi.

My all round favorite

(Avid Cyclist) September 18, 2009

I cannot comment on the changes of these shorts in the newest version. The last pair I purchased was in early 2009.

I love all of mine. The length is great, the matte material is very flattering and supportive, and the leg grippers aren't too tight.

The thin chamois does a wonderful job at padding yet not chafing, and the size and placement of the chamois on mine are great for the wide sitbones I have.

I have some sort of issue with every single other pair of the bike shorts I own, including much much more expensive pairs; either the chamois is just too bulky, or the outer seams rub and chafe because the padding is cut too short for my rear end! But not with these.

I truly hope that the next pair I order are built like the 3 pairs I already own, or I'll have to start all over with the hunt for the perfect bike shorts.

Used to be my favorites

(Avid Cyclist) September 10, 2009

The old versions of these were my favorites. I had 4 pair, and I rotated them for several 7-day rides. Recently, I bought a new pair, but they changed something - the shorts fabric is much thicker and kind of scratchy, and the chamois seems to be placed further back, so my sitbones hit the edge of the chamois, not the main padded part. I've gotten several saddle sores since they made the change, and I'm disappointed and having to try completely new shorts. It's too bad, because I loved that chamois, and it was the best quality pair of shorts that I could find that used it.

Saddle Region Salvation

(Avid Cyclist) August 9, 2009

After a three-day weekend of 183 miles in very hot (up to 103-degree heat index)and consistently windy weather, I have decided to retire all my other cycling shorts and ride these exclusively. I currently have only one pair of SheBeest SSS shorts, but that must change soon. I got these for my birthday a couple months ago and quickly realized that they were my best shorts. I have been wearing them for my longest rides. I wore them for a 91.5-mile ride a couple days ago. My saddle region was comfortable and healthy despite extreme heat by the end of the ride. I wore my "second-best" shorts for a much shorter 38.5-mile ride the next day. It was also a very hot day. I experienced burning discomfort in the saddle region during my ride and, off the bike, was dismayed to discover the worst case of chafing I have ever had. Even sitting at the side of the swimming pool was painful. Today I wore my SSS shorts again for a 53-mile bike ride, with the chafed areas coated with lanolin. The shorts felt like heaven, and the chafing actually improved significantly during the ride, although the conditions were once again very hot and windy. I have determined that these are by far the best shorts I have ever ridden. My only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that the waistband is too narrow and/or flimsy. It is not uncomfortable, but it has a tendency to roll. I wear size medium shorts, and I am 5'6", 123 pounds, so it is not that I have rolls around my middle. I find that a quick adjustment of the waistband after I get on the bike puts the waistband in a comfortable position. It is not a big deal, just something I would like to see improved. Also, I initiallly did not like the leg grippers, but they don't bother me at all now. Bottom line (with the primary review criteria stemming from that region), I love these shorts and plan to order more of them soon.
