Susan says: "I have cold hands. Really really cold hands. The older I get, the poorer my circulation has become. So I need a pair of gloves that will keep my hands dry and warm in any condition that Mother Nature might send my way. Pearl Izumi's Barrier Gloves are my Go To gloves for the wettest and coldest of those days. While it's true that they are a little bulky, they've never inhibited my shifting or braking. And they are warm! Really really warm. So warm that I won't wear them in anything over 40 degrees. I don't think I could successfully ride throughout the wet and cold winters here in Oregon if I didn't own a pair of these gloves. They're that good!"

PI's Large Too Small for my 8-8.25

(Stylish, Comfort-oriented) November 21, 2010

Great Glove-but had to buy Men's LARGE for 8-8.25" hand. I do have a large hand for a woman, most Large women's gloves do not fit (too tight, hands get cold). Wanted to be able to put a thin liner under the glove, so bought the Men's Large instead. Irritates me that glove makers do not make larger gloves for women. Men's gloves' fingers are often cut too short. ByTheBy, I am a size 6, so I know there are other women with larger hands out there.
Anyone remember the Seinfeld show about his date with the large hands!??!

Pros
Cons
  • Bought Men's LARGE
  • Sizing Too Small
Uses
  • Cold Weather
  • Gear Usage: Winter Sports
  • Sizing: Feels too small

Good winter glove but needs liner

(Comfort-oriented, Practical, Stylish) February 13, 2010

Bought these to be dual purpose winter gloves for winter bicycling and downhill skiing. It was obvious on a quick walk outside in below freezing weather that they wouldn't work for skiing, although may be fine for X country skiing. They do work for winter bicycling, but only if you use a liner. By themselves they were not warm enough for a 40 minute tryout on my mountain bike in 29 degree winter weather in New England, but when I added a Smartwool liner glove, the Pearl Izumis were great. Don't know yet how they'd work for longer rides. My palm is 7.5 inches and I bought the medium so as to fit a liner glove. The articulated palm makes it easy to switch gears and grab the brakes. They felt totally windproof. Haven't tried in wet weather yet.
