The screaming yellow will keep you highly visible on the road when running or cycling. Warm afternoon bike ride on a city path? Go with the vest. Cool morning jog? Choose the jacket. Mix’n’match clouds and sun on a long ride in the mountains? Both. Definitely both. Classic fit and thoughtful styling? Always.

Renata says: What a brilliant idea! A jacket that converts into a vest! I wore this jacket on a few runs when it was chilly outside, and it was so nice to be able to remove the sleeves once I warmed up. The sleeves came off so easily, I didn't even have to break my stride. I stuffed them really easily into the huge back pocket and just kept on running.

I have also worn this jacket cycling. It's nice and light, yet it protected me from the wind and a few showers that passed by. It was also breathable, and I never overheated in it.

I really like the light and soft fabric. It feels like a soft shell, and it folds up easily, small enough to stuff into my pocket. I also like how quiet it is in the wind. I am so glad I got this jacket!!

Best jacket ever!

(Casual/ Recreational) June 13, 2013

This jacket is just perfect. I love the little details like the pleating around the shoulders - so easy to move. I wear it on cold frosty mornings on my commute to work as an added layer. It keeps the cold out.

Useful and nice

(Avid Athlete) May 20, 2013

I think this will be the most useful piece in my winter wardrobe. It's a vest and a jacket, has plenty of pockets and weighs next to nothing. And it's bright as all hell for winter rides or runs.

I have trouble putting matching socks on in the morning but even I could manage the zipper and Velcro combo to remove and re-attach the sleeves -- clever design work.

The only downside is Pearl Izumi's sizing seems to have reduced in recent years. If you're borderline on the size chart, consider buying the next size up as it's on the tight side and there's no give in the fabric.

Pros
  • High-vis
  • Stylish
  • Lightweight
Cons
Uses
  • Wet Weather
  • Cycling
  • Fit: Feels too small
  • Sleeve Length: Feels true to length

MVP - my most valued piece of clothing

(Avid Athlete) February 18, 2013

This is my 3rd PI convertible jacket (in bright orange). I also have it in high-viz yellow and red. I wear this often when I commute to work, go out for long rides, or ride at sunrise/twilight. I wear it constantly during the spring & fall or when the temps or wind change frequently. It's water & wind resistant, but not water/wind proof (nor is it advertised as such). This jacket is constructed nicely and has held up well during frequent washings. The bolero-like sleeves pack up nicely in the back pocket. The vest is also excellent to wear on its own. I consider this jacket one of my clothing staples for riding.

Pros
  • Adjustable
  • Breathable
  • Stylish
  • Lightweight
  • Visible

  • Dries Quickly
Cons
  • Mesh Snags Easily

The daily commute must have item!

(Avid Athlete) February 5, 2013

I use this jacket everyday I commute to work and around the city in Hobart, Australia. It's a staple for me, no matter the weather it comes with me, the weather can change at any time here in Hobart! It's a nice fit, nice long arms and air ventilates well with front zip down and flows out the back of the shoulders. Works well as a vest too, nice and bright. It doesn't handle too much rain, letting water through, especially if it's windy too, so I've already re-waterproofed it once with silicone spray and that worked well. I love this jacket in any case! I'm at work and looking at it draped over my wheels :)

Fantastic addition to cycling wardrobe

(Gym Rat) May 27, 2012

I have been using this jacket for the past three weeks for my morning commute in 40-60 degree temps. On those 40-50 degree days the addition of a long sleeve shirt is all thaI have needed. On the 50-60 degree mornings it works great with just a jersey. The zip off sleeves for when the temps have warmed up are great. It folds down to fit in my bike bag as well.

Like wearing a cloud!

(Avid Athlete) May 11, 2012

I layer this over a cami/tank and lightweight long sleeve shirt and it's all I need to take off on my bike for work in the morning in chilly damp Oregon. I can take the sleeves off while running and store in back pocket.
