No saddle sores!

(Avid Cyclist) July 11, 2012

These shorts fit great and are very comfortable. But the best thing about them is that for the first time, I have not had one single saddle sore wearing these shorts. I have used them in heat, cold and rain. I used them on a 14-day tour of over 600 miles. No chafing, no saddle sores. I bought 2 pairs and am ordering 2 more. Bye bye to my old shorts.

Comfortable and effortless

(Casual/ Recreational) June 19, 2012

As I am getting back into cycling, and thus have to re-develop saddle calluses, these shorts have been great for keeping comfortable. The best thing I can say is I don't think much about them...which means I am not distracted by either poor fit or performance. But here are some observations:
I am 5'2", 114lbs, 50, chose the medium size. They are a great length in the leg and don't ride up, but a bit long in the waist. (A small might've been better for me here, but I feared too tight otherwise.) Seams are nicely placed, the wee pocket on the leg is great for my Blistex. I like Pearl Izumi as the padding usually isn't too wide for a petite gal. The material used was substantial enough to hold things together but not hot on a sunny day. Had two pairs for over a month now, many washings, no structural issues.
Some might think them expensive but ladies, really, your shorts are no place to skrimp.

Pros
  • Good Fit
  • Good Padding
  • Comfortable
Cons
Uses
  • Long Rides
  • Commuting
  • Road Biking
  • Waist: Feels true to size
  • Length: Feels true to length

Not the best fit

(Avid Cyclist) June 12, 2012

There is extra fabric in the butt and all along the seams that makes these wrinkly. Also, the waistband rolls outward and is unflattering. I am 5'0" and weigh 108 lb. Got XS but they don't fit well. Also, fabric is breathable but it feels stiff. Only good thing is the chamois: comfortable on my rides up to 50 miles.

Pros
  • Dries Quickly
  • Good Padding
  • Breathable
Cons
  • Poor Fit
Uses
  • Long Rides
  • Waist: Feels too big
  • Length: Feels true to length

Always High Quality

(Casual/ Recreational) January 19, 2012

Pearl Izumi always deliver a great product that is comfortable to wear on any type of ride. The padding is just right and the short wears forever. The short is worth full price but a sale price makes the deal even sweeter.

Pros
  • Dries Quickly
  • Comfortable
  • Breathable
  • Good Fit
  • Durable
  • Good Padding
Cons
Uses
  • spin class
  • Long Rides
  • Waist: Feels true to size

I don't get it

(Avid Cyclist) August 18, 2011

I am not a delicate woman, but the Large size bags and wrinkles in the butt and along all the seams - my non-InRCool PIs have never done that and are, in fact, properly snug. The other thing I don't get is why have the "comfort" waist design and then run elastic along the top of it? AND the elastic rolls and travels around independently. On the upside, the fabric does feel good on hot days when it's not imprinting creases on my butt and legs, and if you stop for a potty break you can get them back up easily. I'm so bummed - I was SO looking forward to riding in these but I can't stand them for anything over 20 miles (which is just about every ride). Sorry, PI, this one's just not working for me.

Pros
  • Durable
  • Breathable
  • Dries Quickly
Cons
  • Elastic at waist rolls
  • Narrow elastic at waist
  • Poor Fit
Uses
  • Warm Weather
  • Road Biking
  • Waist: Feels true to size
  • Length: Feels true to length

(Avid Cyclist) July 27, 2011

I purchase the size med, but felt to big and I had taken the tags off, I couldn't return so I had given them as a gift to my sister. I purchased a small ,but as i wear them they feel a little small. Not crazy for the fit.

Pros
  • Breathable
  • Good Padding
Cons
  • Poor Fit

  • Waist: Feels too small
  • Length: Feels too short
