Lake freeride shoes

(Comfort Driven) April 28, 2011

These are the best women's freeride shoes I've found. I have VERY narrow feet. There is some heel slippage, especially when they get packed in. I am gonna try some heel inserts. They have great traction and nice flat soles for gripping flat pedals. I can't imagine them being great for a cleat. Way better that the other women's freeride shoes, which seem to be chunky guy designs, made in shorter lengths.

Pros
  • Comfortable
  • Attractive Design
  • Great Cushioning
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Difficult Entry & Exit
Uses
  • Freeride biking

Looks Better than It Works

February 22, 2011

I installed cleats on these for bike racing. I race BMX in them. As in other similar sole designs, cutting away the rubber sole in the cleat spot was difficult, and required care with a razor knife. A screw-off design over the cleat spot, a la another manufacturer's cycling shoes, is much better. There is too much heel slippage when you walk or ride in these, requiring you to cinch the laces ever tighter at the top, which gets uncomfortable. Other than that, these shoes look cool, and I've received compliments on them.
