$119.95
#LG-1050369-020-L

The 13-panel design and Lycra Power material are constructed to contour the moving body. When you are riding long and hard, comfort is key and the HuggFit waist and Powerband leg grippers ensure that your ride will be just that, comfortable!

FIT NOTE: These shorts are very compressive. Please check the sizing chart, if you are in between sizes you might want to consider going up to the next larger size.

Sandy says: These might be the most comfortable bike shorts I've ever worn. The "Hugg-fit" waistband sounds hokey, but it's really supportive and doesn’t slip down, without being tight anywhere. The chamois is comfortable - it looks big on the short but fits in there quite nicely when it's on. The base fabric is VERY compressive, which provides great muscle support. Between the fabric and the cut (check the sizing chart carefully!) I always take a larger size in Louis Garneau shorts than I do in other brands. The red contrast band and stitching looks racy. I'll be using these for my longer rides this year.

  • constructed of LG Lycra Power compression fabric for optimal muscle performance
  • 13 panel, ergonomic fit
  • HuggFit waist for better abdominal support and even pressure distribution around the waist
  • seamless Airzone chamois pad with ventilation wicks moisture and is anti-bacterial
  • no seam inside leg
  • half moon power band on the outside of leg for better fit in motion, better muscle support, and no leg pressure
  • reflective accents on back and bottom

My favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) November 29, 2013

This is the second pair of these I've bought. I've got several other brands of cycling shorts, but I like these the best. They're comfortable and have good padding.
I'm tall and slim; I usually wear a 6, but I bought a large the first time because of the advice I saw. I'm happy with them and I ordered a large again, but received a medium. They're just fine, too, so I guess I didn't really need to order up. The large just come up a teeny bit higher on my waist.

Not holding up like expected

(Casual/ Recreational) July 6, 2013

Thought I was going to love these shorts. Fit great (ordered up a size as recommended). Love the wide waist band and the snug fitting leg openings without grippers. Love the longer length (and I'm short). Able to push them up on warm days. Very stretchy, but very compressive. Did notice that they seem to soak up sweat on hot days and felt a bit damp.

This is my second season with these shorts and today I went to wear them and the padding in the seat was in a bunch. The molded seaming had given way. I'm a casual, fair weather rider. I always wash them on gentle and hang them to dry. For the amount of wear and the cost, they should not have given up! I'm afraid to wear them on a longer ride. I don't need my "panties in a bunch"! Back to my PI shorts from several years ago!

Pros
  • Good Padding
  • Good Fit
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Weak Seams

(Avid Cyclist) May 2, 2013

Unless you want a very tight short, buy a size up. I'm usually a medium, sometimes small, and I bought a size large per lots of other comments. Glad I did. Especially after washing (line drying) they got a bit smaller.

Don't fix what isn't broken

(Avid Cyclist) April 30, 2013

The former version of this short was PERFECTION! I have about 8 pairs of these bike shorts and love them. The last few pairs are with the new skinnier hem and I have come to the conclusion that they are not as comfortable as the former design where the hem was like the waist band, wide and uber comfy. Why do they feel thay have to change things? If you want a good long ride short stop looking now! Too bad you missed the older style wide hem/band - those were perfection. Anyone at LG listening?

'Good' shorts

(Avid Cyclist) March 5, 2013

Generally the shorts are good. Ordered a size down from usual, still not quite as compressive as I'd like but it was all over even which is a plus. No grippers was fantastic, and they don't ride up. Material is very comfortable. Absolutely loved these shorts, however the chamois is set way back and does not protect the pressure points. Also not far up enough at front and as a result is rather uncomfortable on long rides. Chamois crumples at front.

Not a Favorite

(Competitive Cyclist) February 7, 2013

Had high hopes for these based on positive reviews. The material has a strange feel to it, and I found these shorts too hot for workouts on the trainer, as a liner under baggies for MTB rides, or on hot days. While the no-elastic hem around the thighs is nice, the material stretched out weirdly after one wearing and didn't 'snap' back. The chamois was too cushy, and I found it bunched up making for some uncomfortable rides. Really wanted to like these, but they're not for me.

Best long distance shorts

(Avid Cyclist) January 22, 2013

Wore these shorts straight out of the packet on a 120km ride. Super comfortable. I did order a large as they are a tighter fit. I am usually a medium in Sugoi and most other brands. They are quite long but i purposely wanted some shorts that would work well with knee warmers for the winter months.
Highly recommend these shorts.

These are comfy

(Avid Cyclist) November 28, 2012

I saw from the reviews that people love these shorts so I thought that they would be a good bet. After trying them on, I thought the pad might be too wide for me but decided to keep them because they are really comfy.

On my first ride I experienced some chafing. On my second ride I used some chamois butter and everything was fine. They are really comfortable shorts.

Also to note, they like a lot of shorts, are a bit see-through. :( I try to pretend that this is not so when I am riding.

Well worth the money

(Avid Cyclist) November 11, 2012

These shorts are very comfortable, even on long rides. Very well padded without the bulky feeling. They run just a little bit small, like most LGs. Legs and waist stay put, no adjusting needed during ride. I'm 5'5", between 125-130lbs. I have a medium and a large, both work, but medium provides more compression.

Service comments: I am happy with the service and delivery. I will order from team Estrogen again!

LOVE these shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) October 23, 2012

These shorts are wonderful! I have two cheaper pair of shorts and decided to splurge on these after reading the reviews. The chamois is perfect—comfortable but not too thick. The length is perfect and the fabric feels wonderful. They are comfortable now matter how long I ride.

For any "athenas" reading this, I'm currently a size 20 and ordered the XXL. They are quite compressive and I was worried when I pulled them out of the package, but fit perfectly.

I'm going to buy a couple more pairs of these shorts in the spring as I never wear my old shorts anymore. I wish they made these in tights!

So super I bought these in every color

(Avid Cyclist) August 28, 2012

These are the only shorts I'll wear for rides over 30 miles. I wore them for a recent 85 mile ride and I had no problems. During a gran fondo ride these performed like a champ. I'm sure they fit most figures but as a petite and compact woman these shorts are among the few that remain secure to my thighs and fit snugly in all the right places. These are the reasons I bought them in all colors!

Terrific Compression Short

(Avid Cyclist) August 8, 2012

I purchased these shorts after reading several online reviews. I really like the benefits of compression and these shorts manage to provide comfortable, effective compression. I particularly like the waist band and the banding around the legs (super comfy). I've worn them on long (100 miles) and short training rides - no chaffing or irritation. I am 5'4" - 113 pds. The small fit perfectly. It is a bit of a squeeze to get them on but they are perfect once you do!

My New Favorite Shorts

(Avid Cyclist) June 19, 2012

I absolutely love these shorts! I now own 4 pairs: two in the shorter length and two in the longer length. The padding is perfection for longer rides; the styling is great, and I love having two different lengths. I ordered both the small and the medium, and the small was super tight in the waist and leg openings- yecch. I am 5'4" and 122 lbs, so I usualy waer a small in brands like Pearl Izumi, but not with this short! Definitely size up one size, and these will fit you like a glove. The waist is non restricting, and a very flattering V shape, and there is no silicone in the legs but the shorts stay in place with out it.

Great Cycling Shorts

(Casual/ Recreational) June 13, 2012

After a very uncomfortable 6 mile bike ride in "cheaper" cycling shorts, I decided to bite the bullet and buy some more expensive shorts with better reviews. I'm very happy with the results. The following weekend I rode 18 miles in these shorts with little to no discomfort. Worth every penny so far!! I would definitely purchase again!

Best shorts EVER

(Avid Cyclist) June 1, 2012

I love these shorts. They are flattering in that the grip band at the knee isn't so tight that it makes your legs bulge below and above, yet it stays in place. They are form fitting, yet don't dig into your waist and the chamois is soft and pliable. It doesn't look like you are wearing a diaper. I've worn these on 100 mile rides and they have enough leg support that your muscles don't get overly fatigued. I'm going to get another pair :-) Way more comfortable than the equip shorts I ordered.

third pair just came

(Avid Cyclist) May 30, 2012

These are great shorts! I just got my third pair and ordered the white trim with white stitching-great alternative to the all black.
The legs stay put and the length is great for me since I'm long legged. They are tight but that's the idea with compression.

I love these shorts! I bought them in black/white and they look great. They are compression shorts so they are tight, but I ordered a large knowing that and they fit great! I can definitely tell the difference when I am riding with these shorts on compared to my other bike shorts. I am definitely going to order another pair soon.

My new favorite biking shorts

(Avid Cyclist) April 30, 2012

My old shorts were all stretched out and were bunching in the crotch...ouch! Saw the reviews for these and thought they were worth a try. We're training for a week-long cycling trip in Slovenia, which is a ton of climbing, so comfort will be one of the keys to having fun. I just received them and wore them to my early am spin class - they are so comfortable and the fit is terrific. I don't feel like I have a diaper on. Can't wait to take a long ride in them. The fit is so nice. I am tall, 5'10" and 135 lbs, and the medium is just right. I like the longer lenght too.

PERFECT for long rides

(Casual/ Recreational) April 23, 2012

I bought these for my first MS150 ride, and first wore them for a training ride the weekend before. I LOVED the fit and how the waistband didnt bind. After the 47 mile ride, there was no pain or soreness and immediately I knew I needed to get another pair. I wore them this past weekend for the first day of the MS150 (76 mile route) and the comfort was amazing. Definitely looking to purchase more pairs and recommending them to all of my friends.

I usually wear a small, but purchased a large as that was the only size available at the time. The fit was great, but for more compression I might try a medium next.

(Avid Cyclist) January 8, 2012

Bought these for training as well as a century ride. I love them!!!!!! I want another pair. I love how the waist sits above my belly button, it sucks my belly in so I don't keep pulling them up. They are very breathable and dry very quickly. The chamois is awesome. I rode 55 miles with them and LOVED it. My butt didn't hurt at all.

Awesome shorts--nice look and fit

(Avid Cyclist) November 28, 2011

My favorite shorts prior to these were the Shebeest with the Shelastic chamois which are no longer going be made. Hence I ordered these based on the comments to try as another option. I was concerned when I received these shorts initially since I thought the chamois did not look like it would provide the padding I liked. I was wrong. The chamois in these shorts has breathable holes that keep it cool, comfortable and breathable in warm weather. The only thing that I would prefer since I am 5'3" is a shorter length. The compression fabric is superb though and the stitching has shown no signs of wear after several washings. I will not hesitate to get these again. Hey Louis Garneau, how about making shorts that are a little shorter especially for the summer time.

Great muscle support

(Competitive Cyclist) October 10, 2011

These shorts are very form fitting but I have found this to be a benefit as they really support your muscles well on hard rides. I also like the longer to the knee fit for coming into Autumn. They wash up well. The first time I pulled them out of the bag they looked tiny! I thought I had the wrong size but once I put them on I realized the compression fit is great for hard rides. I also like these shorts for cyclocross practice as there is nothing loose to get caught up when dismounting and remounting. The longer fit means you could wear them all winter for races with a knee warmer.

These are my ABSOLUTELY favorite shorts! I ride for a team and will only use these shorts even though they do not match my team kit!) They are good for a 120 mile ride and a 10 mile time trial. (Avid Cyclist) September 11, 2011

Size up if on the border. Fabric is silky, soft. First time I put them on they felt great. Gals with a 29" inseam or less will find these longer. However, no complaints from me. Gripper free legs but no ride up. Rode 75 miles in them with no discomfort from the shorts. Still used the chamois butter to avoid any potential problems though. Worth every penny--even at full price.

Neo Power Cycling Shorts

I have been training for a century ride and had read many reviews about this product. I had to have them. Love the feel of the compression. Great biking shorts!

(Casual/ Recreational) September 1, 2011

I have purchased another brand of bike shorts for the last six years, but due to a design change, decided to try something else and I'm glad I did. The LG biking shorts are great. Yes!

(Casual/ Recreational) August 31, 2011

I bought these shorts due to the many positive reviews. Thank you everyone! Also, I did go one size up and that was perfect. I am a size 10 and a large in most cycling clothes, but the XL fit like a glove. I got the basic black ones and they look REALLY good on, sexy like, and it does not look like you've got a diaper in your butt. Here's why I bought them: Had a long ride on a new bike (that I was professionally bike fitted on) 2 weeks ago where I literally became numb in my female area for several days after. That freaked me out and I got desperate to end that bizarre and potentially dangerous issue. I have a 62mi event coming up and I had to handle this quickly. First I bought a new saddle (the Selle Italia Diva Gelflow), but the numbness still happened that ride with my new seat, though not as extensive. For this 3rd ride, I repositioned the seat, and decided this ride (50mi with hills) I would be wearing 2 pairs of shorts. [...] wore them under a cycling skort that isn't comfortable on a ride over 15mi max, but I was comfortable the entire 50mi ride! I attribute my comfort to these shorts, and slightly repositioning my seat. Butt was fine, but most important for me, NO numbness! Yay!! For me, they are worth every hard earned dollar I spent.

I had heard great things about these shorts so I bought them on an impulse. They're expensive, but I can see why (you get what you pay for!) I probably could have fit into the Large, but since only XL were available, that's what I got & they run small. I wore them on a long day of Ride Idaho & they were great. A bit long, but great fit & comfy chamois for long days in the saddle.

SO Nice!

(Avid Cyclist) August 30, 2011

This is the second pair of these shorts I've bought. They are fantastic. Love the no-grip legs and wide waistband. I thought I wouldn't like how long they are, but actually, they make my legs look great! I did order a size larger than usual based on others' advice, so they are NOT at all snug (I clicked "feels too small" due to ordering larger). The fabric is SO comfy. I even had a bit of a fall and the shorts didn't even snag. Used them in my first century last weekend!

Saddle Sores R Us

(Avid Cyclist) August 26, 2011

My favorite touring shorts were unavailable, so after reading the positive reviews, I decided to try these. I ordered a size up, and was glad I did! Unfortunately, after the first ride, my rear end was not happy! I developed more saddles sores after a 70 mile ride than I've had in a long time. I'm hoping it was a fluke, but I'm almost afraid to try them again. Did I just buy a very expensive pair of commuting shorts?

Impressed

(Avid Cyclist) August 22, 2011

I was looking for a road bike short that offered me less chafing and better comfort. I really found it with these shorts. I first wore them out on a 35 mile ride and I was impressed with the comfort of them just after putting them on! Then I wore them for a 90 mile bike race. My bottom was no worse for the wear! I could not say enough about these shorts, my new go to shorts! I will have to get another color, thats a great thing about them too!

Too expensive for what you get!

(Casual/ Recreational) August 18, 2011

The shorts are looser than what I expected and not as long. The legs keep sliding up while I am riding which is very bothersome. I am a fairly large person (5'5" 175lbs) but don't think I could have used a L instead of the XL. I read the previous reviews before I bought. Too bad, they seem like awesome shorts but just didn't work for me.

The best shorts I have ever worn!

(Avid Cyclist) August 7, 2011

I was not looking for new shorts, however, when I read the reviews I had to try these shorts. My first ride with these shorts was a 50 miler - I had planned to ride 30 miles on a hot day, but I was so comfortable I kept on going! I loved them! I like the length (they are longer than the standard short) and the padding was not too much and not too little. I am placing an order for another pair! [...]

Service comments: My delivery was SUPER fast. Ordered on a Friday, received on Monday! I called Team Estrogen due to a question regarding my order, and I spoke with Susan who was fabulous, giving me her personal review of the LG Neo Power short. Many thanks!

Comfort in Compression

(Avid Cyclist) August 2, 2011

I needed find compression shorts in order to participate in a 2 day bike ride of over 35 miles each day.

As a person with a thick waist, finding clothing with a comfortable waistband is sometimes challenging.

These shorts met that challenge! The wide band is place just below the waist and stays put, and the padding is the right amount.

After taking it for a 43 mile test run, I had to order another. They served me well on the weekend ride. I love these shorts!

Worth a rating

(Avid Cyclist) July 28, 2011

I've been on the search for a pair of comfortable biking shorts for several years. This pair is defintitely the most comfortable out of all the ones I own. The padding in the rear allows me to engage my sit bones on the saddle and the padding in the soft tissue area is the best I've found so far! They are definitely long, but so comfortable--both in the legs and waist.
I've worn these shorts on a 75 mile ride and many shorter rides with lots of hills. They stay put and they are worth the price tag if you're still searching for shorts that actually help, rather than hinder, your ride.
I took the advice of others and went up a size and the shorts fit great.

Edit to my July 21 review regarding fit

(Avid Cyclist) July 25, 2011

After wearing these on a ride, I have concluded that sizing up from your regular size is indeed necessary. In my previous review (July 21), I advocated ordering one's true size in these shorts. They felt great when initially tried on but, after a ride, the compression was a little too intense. I still think these shorts are above all others I've tried and I have already re-ordered them in a size larger. Go with what most others are saying, and do order a size larger than you normally wear.

A cut above the rest

(Avid Cyclist) July 21, 2011

I needed a new pair of shorts for 30-100 miles rides, and I got these, the Sugoi RS, PI Pro Micro Sensor and the Terry Bella with the intention of comparing the best rated shorts and keeping just one or two pair. All of the shorts fit and felt very good, but these LG Neo Power were in a class of their own. The compression is strong and feels very comfortable and comforting to the muscles, the look of the short is flattering, the feel and quality of the material and build is excellent. It just felt amazing as soon as I put it on. Even compared to the other high end shorts, these were a measusrable cut above. Regarding size, I feel they were true to size. They are supposed to be compressive, and I did not find my usual medium (in other brands) to be too small. I am 5 ft 9.5 inches and 145 lbs, and a size 8 in jeans. They are a bit longer than most shorts, but the length is preferable so that the wearer gets maximum beneift from the compressive quality of the short. My lower body feels sleek, strong and empowered for long rides in these shorts. FYI - my second favorte short was the Sugoi RS for its great feeling, super breathable, fast drying and cool material. It's shorter and great for hot weather riding, and it almost feels as if I'm wearing nothing. Great short, too, but if I had to pick just one (over all four that I tried), I'd recommend these LG Neo Power.

Darn Good Shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) June 26, 2011

I think I read every single review of these shorts before I finally purchased them. I wanted quality, for long rides, and was vacillating between shorts and bibs. I chose these, and definitely, without a doubt, made the right choice! I can't praise these enough, but I will repeat salient features that others have mentioned: great compression, perfect length (none of that Daisy Duke stuff for cycling!), nice look, no pinching or slipping. One point to touch on - these were true to size. Many of the reviewers cautioned that they run small, but I believe that a compression fit is going to feel "smaller" than a regular fit, especially if you're not used to it. After mile 40, you're going to be thanking yourself for ordering your usual size, trust me!

Long, hot, bulky

(Avid Cyclist) June 22, 2011

I'm stumped as to what so many see in these shorts that I don't: the fabric is hot instead of silky & supportive and feels "creepy" against my skin without the grippers to hold it in place. I am almost 5'8" yet the leg length is just annoying against the backs of my knees. The bulky pad may be ok for roadies but most of us mountain bikers prefer a more minimalist approach. I ordered two pair of these based on the glowing reviews, unfortunately they are going back.

Louis Garneau are the best!

(Casual/ Recreational) June 20, 2011

I am a casual weekend rider, training for a long distance ride. I am not a thin, athletic women and have trouble finding cycling clothing made for a woman with a bust and hips. I only buy Louis Garneau shorts and leggings. They have the absolute best, most comfortable padding, comfortable waist and fit in legs. My only complaint about these shorts, and it is not a big deal, is the the padding is set just slightly too far back for me. That could very well be due to my build. Regardless, they provide ample padding where I need it! Oh, and their tops fit great, too.

LG Fit

(Avid Cyclist) June 19, 2011

I've read the reviews here, and the discussions on TE Forums. I own 3 pairs of these shorts and use them almost exclusively.

A lot of reviews here mention going up a size, but some women (built more like me) can use their regular size with no problem.

I tend to have a wider waist and more narrow hips, and my regular size works. A lot of women's clothing is a little too large in the hips, and too small in the waist for me.

These shorts are perfect, but they are quite compressive, so be prepared. Since I gain weight in my middle rather than hips or legs, I don't have the too tight legs issue, and the waist is large enough, for once, not to be an problem.

The good news is, on me LG create a nice waist(for me) that doesn't exist in reality. The compressive fabric pulled in and presto! Curves! (Note to self, buy LG Tri shorts and wear under slinky summer dresses).

I think the issue with LG's is not that they run small, as others have suggested, it is that they are constructed more like men's geometry shorts, with more narrow hips and a wider waist. (Just like the 'slight curve' jeans from Levis or Lees, I forget which brand).

From what I've read, a high percentage of women have to go up a size to accommodate the hip area, and perhaps the legs.

For many, this is fine. For some who are very slender and curvy, the waist might be too big no matter what.

When you compare the women's sizing chart to the men's in LG's, the sizes look quite different from one another, but the shorts appear much less curvy than other brands I've tried. No idea how their men's version fits.

Very comfortable shorts; the compression is great, so the pad doesn't slide around--it just stays put where I need it. I just rode a century in these shorts and I had no rubbing or chafing whatsoever. Wish the legs weren't quite as long, but that's a small price to pay for comfort.

STOP! And Buy These Shorts. THE BEST!!

(Avid Cyclist) May 8, 2011

I have been riding for 3 years and complete a couple centuries a year. Working towards the double century. There is nothing like the right shorts and the right saddle. After a long search THESE ARE THE ONES! I am coming back for my 2nd pair and and saving up for a 3rd. Take heed to all of the great reviews. They are right on!! Do it. Shell out the money for comfort. It's worth it and you won't be sorry. I am a big girl, 5'5" with a wide booty. I suggest going up a size, especially if you carry your weight (muscle of course! LOL) in your legs and hips. It's not about size, it's about comfort, fun, health and the ride. Enjoy!!

I am only an indoor cyclist - ride hard, long, and these shorts have great fit, support and padding for that.
Many reviews of this product indicate they are longer than the reviewer would have preferred. I am here to say I am so GLAD they are a longer short. I wish more women's shorts were available in this length. Some of us senior ladies prefer a more coverage and really this is the only short I have found that fits that bill. Have to rave

(Avid Cyclist) January 25, 2011

I have the 2009 version of these shorts, but feel it's worth adding a review here. They're fantastic.

I wasn't prepared for the compressive fit. They make my legs look goofy, but I can't call that a con because ultimately, the shorts stay put and are comfortable and supportive on long rides. These were my favorite pair for RAGBRAI last year. The chamois isn't thick, but it fits to the body to prevent shock and shifting. No chafing for me (and I've had it with other shorts). They're as breathable as shorts can be.

I also want to make a plug for their durability. I took a nasty spill and slid on sandy pavement for several feet. The shorts barely abraded. *Maybe* there was a little fuzz, but they more or less looked like new. They're high and long enough that they really protected my lower half.

I love these shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) October 23, 2010

I commute to and from work by bike every day, and these are the greatest shorts I've tried. The chamois is just the right size, and the chamois material is smooth and comfortable even after a long ride. I've tried other shorts (Louis Garneau Speed Matrix) made with a chamois material that feels somewhat abrasive after 5 miles or so. I haven't had a hint of that problem with the Neo Power shorts.

Good shorts

(Casual/ Recreational) September 11, 2010

I had high expectations of these shorts given the reviews. For the most part, they are lovely, comfortable, shorts. I like the fabric and the color panels (why aren't there more shorts with a touch of color for added visibility?). The cons:
- As another reviewer mentioned, the waist rolls over while you ride
- The chamois is oversized, and I don't get the need for that.
- The inseam is long (which I knew). Not a big deal, but wish they were shorter (8") in order not gain yet another strange tan line.

OK, the other reviews are not shining you on. These shorts are awesome. A little longer than I'm used to but so comfy, it didn't matter on the bike. I got them on a Friday and rode 100 miles this past weekend without the usual soreness and standing up every 10 minutes to get relief.

Comfy yet cute!

(Casual/ Recreational) July 25, 2010

I purchased these shorts before a 5 day, 250 mile tour recently. & I was definitely pleased that I did. The shorts were quite comfortable and didn't rub or chafe. I feel like this is due to a wider chamois that made the seam not hit where my body contacted the seat. I also really liked the fabric, it dried quickly and the compression top felt comfortable and secure. I got the shorts with the blue highlights and I think it adds nice flair to otherwise basic black.

However, having read other reviews, I ordered a size larger, and am very glad I did! It fit quite well. I think a size smaller would have been just too small. I wear a medium in most bike shorts (pant size 8/10 in jeans) and a size large in these shorts was definitely the best for me. The thickness of the chamois was a little thicker than I would normally go for. But it was definitely not bulky. (& I just like mine quite thin).

Overall very glad to add these shorts to my collection!

Best pair out there!

(Competitive Cyclist) June 14, 2010

I race and have tried just about every "team" short out there from voler to castelli to champion systems. These LG neo shorts are the best! I have a lot of chafing issues if the shorts don't fit right (usu. having to do w. the chamois paid being too bulky) so am very finicky about my shorts and I have to agree w. everyone out there that these shorts are absolutely wonderful. I have NO rubbing issues w. them probably because of the compression nature of the fit and the chamois pad contours so well. I actually think they fit true to size and the other manufacturers run large except for castelli which has a euro fit. If you are like me and tend to have a lot of chafing issues w. shorts do yourself a favor and get these shorts. You're private parts will luv you for it!

These are a must have

(Avid Cyclist) May 28, 2010

Finally - excellent shorts with no silicone grippers (one of the worst inventions ever IMO). The fabric is super-soft and conforms completely and perfectly to your body. You don't even feel it when riding and everything stays put. The pad is the perfect thickness, about medium, and also very soft fabric. Feels great on those sensitive parts!

They run one size small - order a size up. My only nitpick is the wide leg band. It could be an inch or so shorter, but you can fold it up. Super comfy for long distance rides. I'm going to order another pair before they discontinue the style.

Great shorts

(Avid Cyclist) May 22, 2010

Based on reviews I read, I ordered a size larger than my normal shorts and unfortunately I think they are too big. I got them in time for a metric century so I went ahead and rode in them. I think the compression in the smaller size would be fantastic since they were pretty good in the ones I got. The chamois is a little bulkier than my Shebeast but again that could be related to the size problem. The waist pressure was lower than in my other shorts but not uncomfortable.

This chamois is so comfy! It molds to my shape, so there is no uncomfortable bunching. It is thin enough to be comfortable, but thick enough to give protection. The shorts are really long, which some people are going to love! The long length feels great on my legs (compression!) but I like the tan lines that short shorts make. Size up though, these are tight!

A great year-round short

(Avid Cyclist) May 5, 2010

Lots of riders have already given a thumbs-up to this short. I'd just add that I use this short in the winter, too. I use it indoors on the trainer & I wear it outdoors under a pair of tights. It works great as a liner because it doesn't have a waistband, so no double-up at the waist, and no grippers to catch & pull at the leg, it just stays smooth without extra bulk. And the chamois is super.

Favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) April 8, 2010

Favorite feature: hug-fit leg compression fabric doesn't use a silicon/rubber gripper to stay in place. Most annoying thing about most shorts is that on a long ride in the hot sun, your thighs sweat and a bit of that sweat is trapped underneath the silicon/rubber gripper, and then you're left with an icky, pruny and very obvious "thigh band" for several hours after you take off the shorts. These shorts use a wide band of compression fabric to stay in place, eliminating the thigh band of nastiness post-ride. I could swear the compression fabric helps my performance on long-distance rides too by decreasing muscle fatigue. The chamois is very nice too, thick and absorbant, yet flexible. Wear them every week. LOVE THEM! Own them in last year's red as well as this year's red and turquoise. Probably put 1,000 miles on last summer's red ones and they still look great.

Review Update: Still the Best!

(Avid Cyclist) March 26, 2010

I reviewed this product last spring, and I'm happy to report that after a year of riding (a couple thousand miles) this short held up very well. It still looks and feels like new! I can also report that it fits me well with just the right amount of compression. I love the longer leg - it hugs my muscles and I feel like I ride better for it. Plus, I feel a little more modest in this short - I'm 53 and ain't what I used to be!!

The leg doesn't ride up - but I have big thighs. I am 5'3.5" though, and short-waisted so the waist band does sometimes roll over in front. I just make sure to tug it down a little in front before mounting my bike and that seems to keep it from curling. Even so, I prefer this type of waistband to the ones with the drawstring.

I'm super happy about the new, blue accent color as I have several blue jerseys it will match. I say, bring on the colors! Let's have this best short ever made in many accent colors!

The most perfect short I have found

(Avid Cyclist) October 30, 2009

I have been looking for a longer short, these are perfect. Went up a full size for a comfortable fit, they are compression so they fit snug. The chamois is perfect. Not too thick and not too thin. Do not like bulky chamois, the chamios in this short is just right. Ride 100 plus miles on Sat and 100 plus on Sun most of the year, do not even think about the shorts while riding, they fit that good! A good short for a serious cyclist. I ride between 8,000 and 12,000 miles a year and have for over 20 years.

Not for short people

(Avid Cyclist) October 22, 2009

I really wanted to love these shorts. They're very well constructed, and the chamois is a great density and shape. But, at 5'3" and 120#, they're just not for me.

The shorts are European-sized, so I ordered a Large, which is probably the right size for me. But the chamois is American large. It's way out of proportion to the chamois in any other shorts I own. It's shaped the same as some Terry and older Shebeest chamois, but the size of the chamois is one to two sizes larger than the chamois in other shorts I own, with similar fit in the outer shorts.

I liked the look and feel of the chamois, so I decided to keep the shorts and try them anyhow, but the length wound up being a problem as well. The legs reach all the way down to my knees, and do ride up a bit, but more importantly, the waistband comes to my ribs while standing. Over the course of a ride, the waistband rolls over uncomfortably.

Bottom line: I would recommend these to a tall friend with a wide pelvic outlet and a small Q-angle. I would not recommend them to anyone shaped vaguely like myself.

Pros
  • Dries Quickly
  • Breathable
  • Good Padding
Cons
  • Chamois disproportionate
Uses

  • Long Rides
  • Waist: Feels true to size

Perfect Biking Shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) August 9, 2009

I bought these shorts this past spring based on the Editor's Picks. And because I was looking for a good compression short in a longer length that had a band of elastic material rather than a narrow bead. From the first ride to my most recent ride, these shorts couldn't be more comfortable. They compress without discomfort and I feel better on my bike because of it. Plus, they are striking shorts if you get the red-accented pair, and easy to accessorize with. I wash my shorts after every ride and I put on a lot of miles in a week's time. So far there has been no sign of wear on these shorts. I own both a black and red pair, and they are the only shorts I ever seem to ride in. Oh yeah, do order one size up for the most comfortable fit as they run a little small. Happy biking!

Best shorts available

(Competitive Cyclist) July 14, 2009

These shorts have my all time favorite chamois in them. I have other LG shorts with the same chamois but they don't have the nice waist or the large band around the leg. When I found these shorts with all my favorite features I was very happy.
The sizing advice is correct. I am normally a size small but in these a medium is more comfortable.

awesome, my favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) July 13, 2009

[...] they are awesome. These are my favorite shorts. They are extremely compressive and I ordered up 2 sizes! ( I always take 1 size larger in LG, but this time had to go up 2 sizes). I wish they were a little shorter, but now that I have had them awhile, the length does not bother me. I love these. They are a definite must-have for serious cyclists and weekend warriors alike.
