Edna says: I love my Keen cycling sandals! They feel like wearing old, worn in favorite sandals. The first time I rode in them I rode 40 miles with no issues. They breathe much better than closed shoes, so they feel cooler in the summer. They are comfortable with or without socks, and the lacing system makes them adjustable in case my feet swell while riding.

Great shoe

(Recreational cyclist, Casual) July 31, 2012

I use these sandals on my daily 12 mile ride. They provide lots of support on the bike, but aren't bad to walk around in. I haven't ever purchased Keen shoes before. These fit fine, but I understand that they aren't as wide as their sandals usually are. Great biking sandals.

The best cycling shoes EVER!!!

(Active, Avid cyclist, Snorkeler) June 18, 2012

I ordered this shoe last year because I was not very happy with a pair of bike sandals I own. This shoe did not disappoint me. It is so comfortable that you don't realize you're wearing it. I've put a lot of riding and miles on my shoes and didn't know if the shoe would be offered again. I ordered a second pair at the end of last year to ensure I would have the shoe this year to ride. Don't really need the new shoes yet as my old ones are doing just fine. All I can say is positive things about this shoe and it's overall comfortability is outstanding.

Liked them so much I bought both colours

December 30, 2011

I loved these sandals in grey, so I bought a pair in black as well. They are just as comfortable as my regular cycling shoes and great in our hot summer weather. They look like regular sports sandals but with the added bonus of the spd cleats.
Some other reviews on these have suggested going a size larger than you would normally, I only went a half size larger and that was fine, I still have some toe wiggle room.

Pros
  • Durable
  • Comfortable
  • Cute

Helps Dissipate Heat

(Stylish, Casual) August 18, 2011

Wear on extremely hot and humid days; thin sock improves comfort level since insole does not breathe; fits true to size; takes longer to put on than regular bike shoes; will give up some power in pedal stroke with these; if use insole/insert in regular bike shoe, size up to accommodate the insert; fine for rides less than 30 miles and only a few hills. These shoes are narrower than regular Keen Sandal. Keens seem to run wide anyway

Pros
  • Some arch support
  • Toe protection
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Durable
Cons
  • Too flexible
  • Insole does not breathe

Perfect commuter shoe for warm weather!

(Casual) August 18, 2011

I live in Hawaii and bought this sandal for my commuting bicycle. I wear an 8.5 (9 in running shoes) and have often found Keens a bit too short in that size, but the 8.5 in the Commuter Sandal fit perfectly. They are great for walking around off the bike, as well. I'm using Eggbeaters, and there are no issues with the cleats. These sandals are a big improvement over the heavy mountain shoes I've been wearing for commuting. Highly recommended!

Comfortable and cool

(Stylish) June 15, 2011

I wear these cycling sandals all the time. They are perfect commuter shoes. But I also wear them mountain biking ... works great splashing through streams and mud. No wet socks! I also wore them on a recent century ride. Maybe a little less support than a closed cycling shoe but oh so much cooler. I also like that I can walk around in them without the tap tap of the cleat.

Good Shoe

(Casual) June 10, 2011

This new style seems to run true to size to maybe a half size too big. I originally ordered a half size big because of some of the reviews. [...] Love the shoes. Still adjusting to them but getting ready to give them a real test on a week long ride next week. They are actually comfortable to walk in even being bike shoes. Actually my first Keen's but I have a feeling I will be getting a regular pair for everyday.

love love love

(Casual) March 1, 2011

Really like these! Wore them for the first time on a 15 mile ride with absolutely no problems. This is pretty big for me because I tend to have very grouchy feet and even "comfortable" shoes tend to hurt. These fit me very well, but if you have wide feet, you may not like them. I usually wear a 6 1/2 or 7 in sandals/dress shoes, and the 7 fit fine.

Comfy, snug enough, Love them

(Practical, Casual) November 11, 2010

They are snugger than the same size regular Keen sandals but they have to be to not slip off on the bike. The toe protection was important to me and the ability to walk in them for crossing roads or errands off the bike. Usually I need a big toa box in running shoes but for cycling they are fine - I wish they made those for road cleats.

Size is a problem

August 30, 2010

I wanted to love these cycling sandals but it was not to be. With regular Keen shoes/sandals I wear a size 8 so also ordered these in same. They are too big! My big toes are not even under the black toe guard piece and I cannot adjust the shoes via the laces to push my foot forward.Sadly, they will have to be returned [...]

  • Arch Support
Cons
  • Poor Fit

I'm a convert

(Casual) July 14, 2010

More comfortable and easier to put on than my regular bike shoes, but still quite supportive. Less dorky appearance for walking around, although obviously they still aren't suitable for hiking or beach walks if you put cleats on them. Comfortable with and without socks.

The fit is substantially narrower than regular Keen sandals. This makes sense because it means the heel is less likely to hit the bike while you're pedalling, but it does mean you can't assume you'll take the same size in both.

  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight

Great

(Casual) June 27, 2010

These gems just arrived and after one 90 minute ride I am in love. I was hesitant to order as I had read comments that they run about a half size small, but I ordered my normal size and for me the fit is perfect. They fit snugly, but comfortably so. My summer rides just got more comfortable.

Love it for cycle class!

(Conservative, Casual, Stylish) March 1, 2010

I have been using this shoe for about a year and I love it! I never had to "break it in". I like that I don't have to wear socks with them. The clip sits into the shoe, so they are easy to walk in. I don't think I would use it in a triathlon, because getting in and out of them requires more work than a shoe with velcro straps. They're not hard to put on and take off, just a bit cumbersome in a race situation. Love these shoes!
