Excellent for long cold riding

(Avid Cyclist) November 29, 2011

Purchased for cold & wet weather. They do everything they are advertised to do. I did have to wear an additional pair of shorts under them on my second long ride because I was concerned about chafing after the first long ride but they seem to be fine now.

Cons
  • Chafes first ride
  • Padding rough around edge

Love them

(Casual/ Recreational) June 27, 2011

I love these knickers. I wear them to commute in Melbourne. They kept me warm on the very chilly mornings, didn't get cold or clammy in the rain and I didn't overheat when the weather wasn't so cold (16oC).

Being an early morning and night rider, I'd like more reflective detailing.

Service comments: Arrived fast and in good condition.

Perfect Capri

(Casual/ Recreational) May 12, 2011

I will likely use thesr nickers 3 of 4 seasons. They are extremely comfortable, wash easily. I did not overheat on a long ride. When I go overseas next Fall, I might need to buy an additional pair. It is not clear to me that they would dry as fast as synthetic fabrics, but the pluses definitely outweight the minuses!

Goog material, sucky chamois

(Avid Cyclist) November 2, 2010

Excellent material - very warm and comfy, but the chamois just plain sucks. It's a little thin and doesn't come up high enough to cover my girly bits - it stops in the most critical of front locations.

Meanwhile, the waistband could also use a redesign, as was previously mentioned. When I ride, the waistband has a tendency to slide up. (might be my figure, who knows) I sweat around my waist sometimes, and the way the waistband fit, I could feel the sweat trickle down in a tickling way.

Overall, I really like these knickers, but might not buy this brand again unless I can try them on first to see if the chamois and waistband issues have been addressed.

Pros
  • Warm
  • Breathable
  • Dries Quickly
  • Durable
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not Enough Padding
  • Weird waistband

Best Knickers, even in cool rain.

(Avid Cyclist) May 10, 2010

This past weekend I went up to Vermont for 2 days of mountain biking in the 'spring'. The weather was in the 40's/low 50's and it rained. I chose these knickers and was perfectly comfortable and didn't feel soggy at all. I felt like I could ride all day. I LOVE these pants.

Great material, more attention to detail

(Avid Cyclist) February 12, 2010

I've had the El Fito for a few months now and have tried my best to love them, but they really need some editing to be allowed into my heart. I have used them on my 15 mile commute and also longer rides of 50-60 miles. The worst part about this product is the chamois. It chafes and is not very dense, I actually started wearing a pair of spandex shorts underneath. The seams are rough as is the fabric on the chamois. I had never had any issues with chafing until these knickers. The waistband also digs into my stomach when riding. I am a size small according to the Ibex size chart, but I wear an XS in these, so the fit note is accurate. The overall design and material choices, on the other hand, are really fantastic. The wool is just the right weight and it keeps me warm, keeps me feeling dry, and breathes very well. The wind stopper over the knee is a great feature and I can see the water beading up on it when it's a little wet outside. The fit is nice and they look great. If Ibex can get a better chamois and a different waistband construction, these knickers will be top-notch and receive 5 stars.

Pros
  • Warm
  • Good Fit
  • Breathable
  • Durable
Cons
  • Uncomfortable waistband
  • Chafes
Uses
  • Commuting
  • Cold Weather
  • Wet Weather
  • Waist: Feels too big
  • Length: Feels true to length

Never be cold!

(Avid Cyclist) November 28, 2009

My temperature limit for road cycling is 40F and these are the knickers I wear! They breathe extremely well so that even on the steepest climbs, you'll still be comfortable on the descents. They also protect well against wind. These are my favorite cold weather knickers. I highly recommend them.
