Travel light in this exceptionally fitted, comfy running shoe. The Kinvara 3 is equipped with XT-900 rubber on specific sections of the outer sole for enhanced durability. This innovative shoe is tough, yet amazingly lightweight and encourages balance and good form. Streamlined for maximum performance, the Progrid has everything you need and nothing you don’t.

FIT NOTE: The Kinvara 3 is classified as a "natural running" shoe (also sometimes referred to as a "minimalist" shoe"). Natural running shoes have a smaller heel-to-toe drop (4mm for the Kinvara 3) than most traditional run shoes (which are typically 10-12mm). This difference puts your heel closer to the ground and stretches the Achilles tendon more than traditional running shoes. If you've never run in the Kinvara or other natural running shoe, we suggest slowly adding mileage while alternating with other training shoes. Adding mileage too quickly without the proper time to adapt can result in injury.

The Progrid Kinvara 2 received the 2011 Runner's World Best Buy Award in their Summer 2011 Running Shoe Guide.

Renata says: These shoes are so super light, it's amazing! I feel so much lighter and faster running in these shoes! I found the small heel to toe drop to be really noticeable. I am flexible, and I stretch my calves and hamstrings a lot, so I found myself transitioning with ease and speed, whereas the heels in other shoes always felt so big and bulky. I'm a neutral runner, so I don't need a support shoe, but I was careful, and I did take my time transitioning over to these shoes because they really have minimal support.

In the past, I had trouble with plantar fasciitis. To compensate, I tried running in more supportive shoes and I even used an orthotic insert. However , I found that the less structured the shoe was, the less my feet hurt! I admit, I don't put in a ton of miles, but I have not had any pain at all after switching to these shoes. This may not work for everyone, but it sure worked for me.

  • The Kinvara is a neutral shoe that allows your foot to run uninhibited.
  • The semi-curved last (the shape of the sole) is best for medium to high arches.
  • Updated in the Kinvara 3; lightweight, yet durable FlexFilm, technology in the upper secures the foot on the platform throughout the gait cycle.

  • A lightweight and flexible triangular lug design allows your feet to "feel" the road as you run.
  • The Heel ProGrid LITE midsole absorbs impact and reduces shock for a smooth ride.
  • An advanced EVA+ midsole maximizes rebound while it minimizes weight; keeping you light on your toes.
  • The upper is made out of air mesh for breathability, with an endoskeleton to hold the foot more securely, a HydraMax collar lining to wick moisture, and it has an EVA sockliner for cushioned comfort.

  • Strategically added XT900 carbon outsole offers traction and enhanced durability.
  • The outsole is beveled to achieve an even smoother transition.

  • 22mm heel, 18mm forefoot = 4mm drop
  • weight: 6.7 oz based off of size 8

Lots of Changes from the Kinvara 2

July 20, 2012

Saucony changed more than just the sole when they updated the Kinvara.

The Kinvara 3 feels wider in the toe box than the 2. When laced tightly the material pulls across the top of my foot. They have also changed the shape of the heel so that it comes up higher.

These changes may suit someone with a wider foot than mine.

  • Width: Feels too wide
  • Sizing: Feels half size too big
