This is my third pair

(Avid Cyclist) August 15, 2013

These shorts are great. I first bought the bib version and decided to try the shorts. They were so great that I had to buy a second pair. They come up to your waist and cover your lower back without creating that squished in feeling around your abdominal region. The chamois is so comfortable that you can still do brick workouts without feeling like you are wearing a diaper.

Different Cut

Long Ride Winner

(Avid Cyclist) August 22, 2012

I did my 120 mile Ironman training rides in heat that exceeded 100 degrees. These shorts were perfect for the conditions. The chamois is comfortable, streamlined and provides a nice ride. I was worried about the fit after reading the other reviews but i ordered my normal size (M) and I wouldn't change a thing. I am 5'5" and 128 lbs - normally wear a size 4 or 6 pant.

I love these shorts. They are my favorite for long rides. I did go up a size after reading the other reviews and I'm glad I did. I am 5'1 1/2" tall the length of the shorts don't bother me. I like the compression in the shorts and that there is no elastic in the short legs. the chamois isn't bulky like some riding shorts and that works for me.

Giordana shorts win Gold!!

(Avid Cyclist) July 31, 2012

Absolutely love Giordana bike shorts!
I wore this pair on hot 95 degree days. I felt comfortable. The fabric breathes and helps repel the sun. I wore the shorts on a hot, humid rainy day. The shorts again were comfortable and did not slide or cling to my bIke seat. These shorts are lightweight, with non-bulky padding, and supportive. Italians know how to make a quality product.
Buy a size up. I bought a medium. It's perfect. I usually buy a small in Pearl Izumi, Shebeest or my previous model of Giordana shorts(which I loved so much it is the only pair that I've worn out!)
I'm buying another pair of these shorts.

Fast becoming my favorite cycling shorts

(Casual/ Recreational) July 3, 2012

These too are becoming my favortie cycling shorts. I love the compression not too tight or loose. I like the length and no elastic in the legs. I'm 5' 1 1/2" and they don't go all the way to my knees. the bands have enough tightness where it keeps the legs from riding up. I love the padding too - just enough to protect the private area and not look like you are wearing diaper. The chamios dries out quickly too. I did go up a size after reading the other reviews.

Service comments: Fast and well packaged. Always please with Team Estrogen customer service

My new favorite shorts

(Avid Cyclist) June 14, 2012

I bought a pair of bibs and didn't wear them for a year. Not sure why. I've been wearing Pearl Izumi shorts for years but their new extra thick and wide chamois is so so so uncomfortable. They bunch up and cause all kinds of discomfort for me. I came across the bibs hanging in my closet and put them on for a long ride one day. Never thought about my nether regions at all during the ride. Couldn't believe it! Not sure I like the bibs due to the time it takes to use the facilities with a long line waiting for you but I really like how they fit. The padding is perfect and I don't feel like I have a huge diaper on. The narrower profile works. I am now going to replace all of my PIs for this short.

Hopefully they don't change the chamois before I can afford to buy several pair.

Not for Mtn. Biking!

(Competitive Cyclist) May 24, 2012

The overall feel of these shorts is great right when you first put them on. Now, I followed the advice of some other commenters when selecting my size. Most individuals were saying to size up. I'm about 5'3" and 120 lbs with an athletic build. So I normally wear a medium, but went to large on this so my issue with the outcome of how the shorts fit could be that, or that I use them for mountain bike riding. The problem is the leg elastic doesn't keep them down when mountain biking... I think because you are out of the saddle more they have the tendency to ride up. So they end up being really short shorts and you have to pull them down from time to time... I bummed about this, because again everything else about the shorts feels great.

Disappointed

(Avid Cyclist) May 22, 2012

Bought these shorts after reading all the rave reviews. Ordered a size up as suggested by others. I am 5'6" 120 lb and ordered a medium. Have worn them for 2 months, hoping they would be my go to shorts for an upcoming week-long bike tour averaging over 70 miles per day. The bottom line: I am continually pulling them down from bunching up in the inseam, which is quite uncomfortable. This happens with only 20 or so miles into a ride. Which is a real shame because they feel very comfortable everywhere else. This is the first time I've ordered shorts on- line without previous experience and was an expen$ive mistake.

Amazing Shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) March 25, 2012

It took me a while to order these shorts because of the price. My other shorts seemed fine or so I thought now I know there is a BIG difference in the feel of the cut which has a nice solid hug from all the panels. I am retiring a couple of old shorts today with the purchase of this one.

However, the fit requires you size up at least one full size from what you normally would wear.

(Avid Cyclist) March 3, 2012

Love the feel and the fit. Light weight and sleek design. True to size. However the band on the bottom of the legs gave me the look of sausage legs. I wanted to keep them and try the gel chamios but for the price I had to feel comfortable wearing them around others. I returned them.

I LOVE THESE SHORTS

(Avid Cyclist) January 28, 2012

I don't have anything negative to say about these shorts, I reviewed so many pairs of shorts before I decided to purchase these and I am so glad I decided on this pair of amazing shorts.
I am not a fan of any padding in shorts and defitinitely did not want the thick padding that is available in a lot off shorts, the padding in these is ideal, not too thick They do not ride up my leg at all and they are so comfortable to wear and not to mention look amazing.
I was not keen on the price but now that I have them I would pay that again for these, you get what you pay for.
I usually purchase a Medium but thanks to all the previous reviews I Went up a size and brought a large and they are great.

padding too thin

(Avid Cyclist) December 4, 2011

LOVE these shorts

(Avid Cyclist) October 15, 2011

These are worth every cent. They are comfortable, flattering, and last the distance on long rides (100+ km). They work very well in hot weather, and the chamois is perfect - just enough without being too big or getting in the way. I used to use chamois cream religiously, but have found I don't even need it with these shorts. The none elastic leg gripper is great, too. I can't recommend these enough, and am getting ready to buy my second pair.

different short

(Avid Cyclist) October 7, 2011

I have a pair of these shorts from 2 yrs ago and this yr's short fits differently. It's smaller overall and the inseam is about 1 & 1/2" shorter in the XS (it's 7"). Also, the rise is higher. The fit of the older version was absolute perfection. I can wear this new one but it just isn't the same...I probably should have ordered a size larger. The fabric, however, seems more sturdy. Thankfully it still has the same great chamois. I'd still recommend it to a friend with the suggestion to order a size larger.

Service comments: Team Estrogen's customer service is awesome! They were incredibly responsive to a problem I had with one of their products. Service and delivery is always top-notch. I shop on a lot of websites and this is the best.

love these shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) October 6, 2011

Wore these for the first time on Levi's Gran Fondo (103 miles). I don't think I want to go back to my old shorts which I thought were fine before. The waist-band is non-binding, and I loved not having the sticky leg grippers. The chamois is absolutely the best: narrow, not thick, and extremely comfortable. I had no sit-bone discomfort on my 103 mile ride in these, and I only started to feel very mild chafing with 3 miles to go!

Nice for hot weather cycling

(Avid Cyclist) August 26, 2011

I was hesitant to purchase these expensive shorts without seeing them first hand but decided to give them a try....at first I wasn't so sure they were worth the money. I will only wear them in very warm/hot weather - the material is thin but supportive (almost like wearing a girdle). The leg grippers are comfortable but once I started riding the shorts moved up my leg making them very "short" shorts! Having worn them several times now I do like them better but would not buy another pair. Decent padding but have not tried them past 50 mile rides yet. Again, best for very warm weather!

Wish I Could Love These

(Casual/ Recreational) August 25, 2011

They are made very well but unfortunately the band on the bottom of the short gives me a most unflattering bulge in my inner thigh area. Not as comfortable on the bike either. I only will wear them for short rides. Feel like I am sliding around on the seat a bit too. These are my least favorite shorts out of 6 other pair that I own.

comparison to previous model

(Competitive Cyclist) July 16, 2011

I love the higher waistline in tis updated model. I had the previous model and the waist was a little low cut. My cons for this model is now the inseam is a little too short and the tag is right in the crack well almost. Not a fan of that. These are really great cycling shorts but they need to make waist longer, no tags and longer length then they would be perfect...

Worth Every Penny

(Avid Cyclist) June 28, 2011

I have been cycling for 15+ years, mostly tri's and individual bike races. I took a few years off to nurse an injury (ruptured quad) and now I am in love with long distance rides (65-100 miles) I have worn PIs mostly and was always pretty happy with them or should I say always thought thats just how bike shorts were supposed to feel until I put these on.

At first I thought eek maybe they were a little tight but not at all...but I will say they are definitely true to size so do measure yourself and follow the measurement guide (I am a size 0/2 and the XS fits perfect).

They came in 3 days before a 100 mile bike ride I had and well they came in with a pair of PIs that I have always worn so I put those on first for my last training ride and I didn't love them and was a bit unsure what to do come that Saturday. The gel chamois instead of the the multi-density foam was new to me and I wasn't sure there was going to be enough padding because c'mon we're used to looking like we have bike shorts on and feeling like we have a lot of padding between our legs. Not these shorts...didn't feel like I had bike shorts on...gel chamois was the perfect fit and if I had to I would have walked around in them all day.

So yes they were my choice on ride day...100 miles without every wearing them before and I can honestly say they made that ride great...and I can't wait to buy another pair! Also, please note that I would buy/wear these for shorter distances too...they are simply the shorts to wear!

Sweetest shorts, evah!

(Avid Cyclist) June 2, 2011

Everything the other reviewers wrote is absolutely true. These are fantastic shorts, I reach for them every time I head out for a ride. I am guaranteed a spectacular fit. They are worth every Italian penny of their sweet design, ingenious pad, fantastic materials and overall gorgeous detailing. These are a euro fit, so I did order the xl, based on the body measurements. They fit like a glove. I could NOT be happier with these shorts.

awesome!

(Avid Cyclist) January 22, 2011

These shorts are the best. I had Pearl Izumis for about 6 months and they were driving me nuts - the waist was cutting into me, they felt bulky and uncomfortable, stopping for lunch during the ride was a chore because the shorts were just so very annoying. It was time to switch. I can not believe the difference - I hardly feel like I am wearing anything. The waist feels comfy when I am on or off the bike. There is enough padding - so far I have done at few rides over 70 miles and I am 100% happy with these. They are very flattering as well. I usually wear a size 6 or medium (I am 5'3", 120lb) in regular clothes - I ordered a large and it was a good decision. Well worth the money for the comfort and practicality!

Nice, but not all that

(Avid Cyclist) October 25, 2010

I'm giving these 3 stars because I these shorts are too expensive for short rides only. I bought Large (based on the reviews and size chart) I think I need the Mediums instead, I like compression and I had a lot of fabric moving around between the leg and the chamois. Since reading reviews on these shorts for the past year and believing "no one didn't like these shorts", I dreamed of the day I'd have the money for a pair. Found them on sale and went for it. The first ride I was surprised by how comfortable a minimal the chamois is- thought it was going to be a problem, was waiting for them to give me trouble, in 20 miles they never did. So I decided to wear them for a 64 mile race the next day. (note: ALL my current shorts give me some kind of trouble in the chamois department) I was great for the first 25 miles- except that it was 45 degrees and these shorts are very thin, so knees were warm thanks to knee warmers and legs were like bricks!
After the 25 I was really feeling my saddle- namely that soft tissue area where the legs attaches to the body- lot's of motivation to ride out of the saddle. The last 7 miles were flat out in an aero tuck- this was one of those "grit your teeth, suck it up and focus on the finish". I was never so happy to see that uphill finish 'cause it meant I could get out of the saddle.
The chamois would be perfect if there was just a bit more padding for the soft tissue where the leg meets the body. The fabric is so thin except for the waist & leg bands, I though the ENTIRE short was made of the red backed fabric, disappointing!
I was also very surprised to find the inner thigh developed pilling within half a block of my house on first ride. For such high end shorts there should be some sort of heavier fabric in the inner thigh area- between saddle stitching, under seat packs and cables- manufacturers should know better!
I don't know about you, but I can't tell whether shorts are going to work for me till I ride them three times or more.
Bottom Line- I'm out $$$ and don't know if I want to risk trying again.

There is a lot to love...and yet......

(Avid Cyclist) September 7, 2010

Well, there really are many features about these VERY expensive shorts which are just lovely. The wide non-elastic waistband and legs bands are fantastic. The overall fit of the shorts is lovely. The fabric is thick and supportive and durable. Even the white is not thin and see-through. But then we get to the chamois....alas...the chamois. I can hardly stand to ride these shorts for a 30 mile ride. If I could remove the giant wad of padding that feels much like a padded hot dog between my legs and keep the padding on my bum, it might be ok. But I spent alot of time and effort trying to find a bike seat that quit, er, "interfering" with me while I rode. Why would I want a chamois that acts much like a bad date who won't take no for an answer?
So far, I'm sticking with the shorts that are half the price. Bummer.

Best shorts I've ever purchased so far.

(Avid Cyclist) August 4, 2010

These are the best fitting and most comfortable shorts I have purchased to date. I've tried Pearl Izumi, Capo, Specialized and Descente. This pair of shorts blows all of those brands out of the water. The leg band does not have that annoying band of sticky stuff, it is a wider piece of stretchy fabric backed with a smooth lining. The waistband is made of the same material as the leg piece and it sits smoothly against your stomach without it feeling like it is digging into your tissue. I am 5'4/120 lbs and the medium fit me ever so nicely. Ah Giordana, i love your Italian styling. Giordana has never disappointed me!

Update! Super Sexy shorts!

(Avid Cyclist) July 9, 2010

After several rides in these shorts I have made the following observations:
1) I get tons of compliments from men and women on the black and white style. I call them my "bling" shorts. They feel sexy too!
2) I get a line of dots of irritated skin from the grippers from the black and white shorts but not from the black with pink stitching pair. It is not painful but I did have a line of tiny scabs there for a few days after the first 60 mile ride in them.
3) Gel is not my friend. I have problems with gel walking shoes too so maybe I am just exceptionally bone-y but long rides in these shorts have my sit bones aching.

So, I have down graded my from my first review from 5 to 4 stars. If I could give them 4.5 I would! They are great shorts but I still dont think I have found my ultimate favorite shorts.

Didn't live up to the hype.

(Avid Cyclist) June 26, 2010

I'm training for the Seattle to Portland ride - 200 miles in 2 days. The first time I put these on, I was shocked to find that the waist band kept rolling down in the back. The waist band is very high which is great when you're on the bike, but it was rolling down when I was standing. I've gotten used to this now and am not sure it's even still happening. These shorts are incredibly comfortable. I _love_ that they don't bind at the legs or waist at all. They are fantastic in that way. I don't get any compression from them even though they say that's a benefit. My biggest complaint though is that there just isn't enough padding for me, especially for long rides. I did 80 miles today and I'm swollen in my saddle region, which has never happened before with my Shebeest knickers. I hate to say it, but these shorts will likely not be going with me to Seattle. For the price, I'm just not sure these are worth the investment.

Lovely but way over priced.

(Avid Cyclist) June 17, 2010

These shorts are lovely--well made, good padding, nice fit, excellent no-pinch leg grippers. But they're really not worth twice the price of other comparable shorts. I'm sticking with my Shebeest Triple S Shorts. They work just as well and cost about half as much.

WOW!!

(Avid Cyclist) June 16, 2010

I pulled them out of the bag and thought for sure they were going to be too small but they slipped on like a dream! The fabric feels thin but not weak. The chamois is not bulky and is super comfortable. The waist is comfortable and yet supportive. I think they are quickly going to be my favorite!

Like riding my bike naked!

(Avid Cyclist) May 20, 2010

Let me start by saying that I've never owned a really high end cycling short like these. These shorts are so breathable, silky and weightless that the first time I rode with them I seriously had to look down once or twice to make sure I wasn't naked! These shorts are an investment, so I'm hoping I can be helpful to someone considering them:

Fit: I'm 5'4", 129 lbs and normally wear a size 6 or a medium in pants. My waist is 29" and the widest part of my thigh is 20". Thanks to the other reviews and the description on this product, I ordered a large. At first I was worried that the thigh band was too loose and that the shorts might ride up because they don't have silcone grippers. Instead, I discovered that they stayed put, but just far more comfortably than silicone. The length is somewhat on the long side which I prefer so I can roll the bottoms and avoid geeky tan lines. I'm glad I bought a large, but if you prefer compression shorts or you like a firmer, snug fit, these might not be for you or at least you might not want to size up.

Padding: My husband and I run a cycling touring company and so we put in quite a few miles in the saddle on hilly terrain as guides. But we also end up walking around a lot in these shorts, too. That's why I needed a pair that wouldn't feel like a diaper when upright. Since my old cycling shorts (which I'm now planning to toss) had the padding equivalent of a panty liner, I'm used to minimal padding, so I didn't need a lot. These Giordana shorts have less padding than average (the "footprint" of the pad is smaller than others). This makes them more flattering and more comfortable to walk around in, but you might consider something more padded if you are a new rider.

Performance: Super cool, silky and comfortable. Not binding in any way. The waistband virtually disappears while riding. I love these shorts and now need to save up for another pair!

Worth every penny!

(Avid Cyclist) May 10, 2010

These shorts are perfect. The waist band and leg bands have that perforated red fabric which helps keep them in place and the rest of the shorts feel like silk. i can't even tell they are there while i'm riding! and the padding is excellent, thinner with less bulk, but it pads better than your typical multi-density foam. The chamois is covered in a micro-suede like fabric that is amazingly soft and comfortable. I love them so much that i'm going to purchase the bib short version and perhaps a second pair.
Also Giordana is a great company, they are environmentally conscious, which makes me happy to support them.

*Also, i would size up. I am in the measurements for a small, but heeded the advice of other reviewers and went with a medium. They fit like a glove!

AMAZING SHORTS!

(Avid Cyclist) April 23, 2010

I didn't have a pair of bike shorts that I absolutely loved until now. I was on the road 20 minutes after I tore then out of the bag! The fabric feels like silk, it hugs your body but doesn't feel too tight. The legs don't ride up, the gripper band is very comfortable. I was kinda worried about the chamois being so thin, but it was like riding on a fluffy pillow. The reviews suggested that they run small so I went a size up. I have a 28 1/2 inch waist and I ordered a large and they fit perfectly. Worth every penny!!

Fantastic shorts!

(Casual/ Recreational) September 17, 2009

The material feels great and the waist is extremely comfortable. The leg grips don't squeeze but stay perfectly in place (no awkward bulges in the thigh/quad area). If you're unsure or in-between sizes, I'd recommend going the next size up. They have turned out to be worth the extra money as I now grab these for the majority of my rides. Despite numerous washings, they are holding up very well. I'd highly recommend these - in fact I'm thinking of getting the bib version.

These shorts have spoilt me!

(Competitive Cyclist) August 28, 2009

These shorts are AMAZING!!!

(Avid Cyclist) July 13, 2009

What can I say...I LOVE these shorts! In my opinion, unless you can afford Assos, these are the next best shorts out there. Because they are European made, consider buying a size up (I wear Medium in Pearl but ordered these in a large). They have a slightly scooped waist in the front but higher in the back and because there is no elastic waistband like most shorts they don't pinch at all. I have larger thighs (athletic I like to say) and while most shorts are too tight in the grippers, these are perfect and do not ride. The material is like silk and dries quickly yet stretches well without tearing. The chamois may be a bit thin for those who prefer a really thick chamois. I actually started with a thicker chamois and found in this case less is more due to the exceptional material. These are also back by a 2 year guarantee from Giordana. No turning back!!!
