Folding Tire

A folding tire is a special version of the clincher tire. In this tire, the wire is replaced with a bundle of Kevlar fibers that allows it to fold easily and also makes the tire lighter than a comparable beaded tire by about 50 - 90 grams.

Note: Each tire is sold individually (one per box)

Great for AZ roads

(Commuter) February 1, 2012

I live in Phoenix, AZ, so I can't rate how these hold up in rainy or otherwise stormy weather, and it hasn't yet been 120 degrees so I can't tell you how they perform in the oven, but for how I use them, I CAN say these are some awesome 3ffing tires. I ride mostly on bumpy road pavement and unpaved canal paths, and the traction is pretty great. I did have one unfortunate incident in the road because there are certain parts of town where there is a layer of dust all over everything and I cut the wheel a little too fast for it to grip on the pavement underneath the dirt, but if it had been a smaller, less grippy tire the rash on my legs may have been a little bigger. I consider this incident operator error.

I chose these tires because I wanted to feel the vibration of the uneven pavement a little less and I wanted the bumps in the road to be less jarring. To get anywhere in PHX using a bike as a main source of transportation it can be a trek, and I AM AN OLD LADY WHO JUST WANTS TO BE COMFORTABLE. I also wanted to feel confident riding on the abundant PHX paveless canal paths. Tiny road tires slip everywhere and get flats too easily. These tires are AWESOME. I rode on them for a week and felt the difference. Then I changed my grip tape, and the combination makes me feel like I'm riding a g0dd4mn marshmallow.

And really, they also look 3ffing cool.

I am an ex-fixed gear rider now turned coaster brake hub enthusiast and I support this message.
