Renata says: "Ah Yes! The Active Extreme! Well, it's not just for the extreme. Even though I have worn it skiing, road and cyclo-cross racing, it's also the perfect base layer when you plan to ride just plain-old-hard. It's nice and light weight, yet it keeps me warm and dry. It really does its job!"

Pretty in pink

(Intermediate) February 6, 2012

Live near the coast and often have rides that don't need full jacket but can be a bit chilly! Wear this under my short sleeved jerseys and no need to try to find my arm warmers!! Very comfy under the jersey, not too tight on neck! Great colors! Came back and bought another. Also easy to care for!

  • Breathable
  • Retains Body Heat
  • Dries Quickly
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to care for
  • Durable
Cons

This layer stacks up

(Advanced) December 12, 2011

I am an all-weather cyclist and I wear almost exclusively wool next to my skin, however this Craft layer is my exception. It's VERY light and warm. It's so light that I was skeptical about it's thermal properties, but it is very cozy and wicks better than anything I've worn. It is considerably lighter than Merino wool layers and dare I say just as warm?? The fit is exceptional, it's very tight (as a baselayer should be) but not at all restrictive, even in the high neck. It's only downfall is that the fabric snags easily, Velcro is it's enemy! Overall, a great winter purchase for any activity!

Pros
  • Retains Body Heat
  • Breathable
  • Lightweight
  • Dries Quickly
Cons
  • Snags EASILY
Uses
  • Cycling
  • Skiing

Solid staple

(Advanced) September 20, 2011

I am a pretty solid 'small' in everything. However I got the extra small in this and was glad I did. It's perfectly form fitting so that I can layer anything over it without feeling bulky. I was completely comfortable without feeling suffocated or unprotected. I wore it under a cycling jersey, however, I intend to use it doing any outdoor activity in weather under 60 degrees f. Feels of good quality as well.

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Retains Body Heat
Cons
Uses
  • Under Clothes
  • Gear Usage: Winter Sports
  • Sizing: Feels half size too big

Supah Hawwwt!

(Avid Adventurer) January 27, 2010

I love my Pro Zero Extreme Baselayer! The fabric is super comfortable next to my skin. I wear the top really tight so I can get the most out of its wicking and warming properties. The length is still long enough in the sleeves for biking, and long enough in the torso to tuck into my bib shorts. I also like the mock neck. The top keeps me warm without adding any bulk, and it keeps my skin dry. I usually wear it alone under a thermal jacket in 38-44 degree weather, with a long sleeve jersey in 45-50 degree weather, or with more layers if it is cooler than 35 degrees. I've even worn this during cool cyclocross races under a short sleeve jersey. The fabric does not smell, can be washed in hot or cool water, and can be dried. The only problem is that the fabric snags easily, but it doesn't really matter because it is a baselayer. I'm rough on clothes anyhow!

Pros
  • Breathable
  • Comfortable
  • Moisture Wicking
  • Warm
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Snags Easily
Uses
  • Sports Wear
  • Hiking and Camping
  • Snow Sports
  • Chest Size: Feels true to size
  • Fit: Feels true to size

Throw Out All Your Other Base Layers

(Avid Adventurer) January 6, 2010

I was introduced to the Craft baselayer by some avid cross country skiers. They said it was by far the best base layer on the market. They were right. It is soft, wicking, and so comfortable. Craft makes their tops longer in the waist and arms than most for a perfect fit. No tugging at all. I wear it for all winter activities, including cc and downhill skiing, running, and snowshoeing.

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Moisture Wicking
  • Comfortable
  • Breathable
Cons
Uses
  • Snow Sports
  • Chest Size: Feels true to size
  • Fit: Feels true to size
  • Sleeve Length: Feels true to length
