simple, good product

(Avid Cyclist) January 17, 2014

Giving this a tentative 5 stars because haven't had it long enough to see longevity. Simple and no need for downloading anything on a computer, just the basics. That's all I wanted -speed, odo, distance. It has more than that, but that's all I use. Just click to cycle through the various readings. I wish the numbers were a bit bigger. Working great for winter bicycling here in New England.

I've heard Cateyes are finicky to install but I found it to be very simple. Easy to install if you line it all up vertically before final installation. I found the position on my handlebar that was directly over where a spoke and fork would intersect. I put the magnet on first, seeing where t would brush past the inside of the fork. Then I loosely installed computer bracket on handlebar and sensor on the fork, checking to see that the magnet would brush by the sensor and that the computer was directly over the sensor. I have it on a mountain bike so the sensor actually touches the magnet if set directly across from each other, so I turned the sensor so it angles backward toward the rear tire to give enough clearance between sensor and magnet. Tighten it all up and screw the nut onto the bracket tab until tight..

Computer is a bit fidly to remove, which you have to do to re-set your data. Odo reading remains and the rest can be re-set. To remove computer, push down on the clicker end (closest to you) to lift up the back edge out of the bracket, then push the unit parallel to ground and away from you. Make sure it clicks when you re-install.

Very Nice Unit

(Avid Cyclist) April 5, 2013

I like this Strada model from Cateye. It is very thin and lightweight. It has a narrower profile than the Cateye Micro model that I replaced it with yet the display is easier to read. The way the mode button is hidden beneath the body and you press the entire computer body to click it is very neat. The mounting bracket uses a knurled knob to tighten it as much as you want and is very solid. The white and pink color adds a very nice feminine touch to my bike.
