Solving the female bib problem

(Avid Cyclist) February 18, 2014

I've taken these out on two 70mi rides and a few short ones. First, I want to say that these bibs have the best mechanism for getting in and out on pit stops that I have ever tried. This is the system that, with a little tweaking, every company should adopt for female bibs. I don't like to strip down to my braw just to go to the bathroom. This is physically and psychologically difficult both in a porta-potty and the woods. By providing an easy attachment point in the back, these shorts allow for dropping down without taking off the straps. I don't understand women's bib that ignore providing such an option. I don't understand women's bibs that have a clasp in the front -- you have to navigate the straps up and over your head and underneath your jersey again. Why?
That wonderful feature aside, I don't like two aspects of these shorts:
1) The pad feels bulky and has too many seams -- I have another pair of bibs from De Marchi that have a much smoother, more comfortable pad.
2) The legs are not long enough. That may be just personal preference. I started out wearing men's bib shorts, and I like the compressive feeling on their longer legs on my entire quad. These are cut pretty short and cause my to fight with my knee warmers in order to keep everything connected.
But that is personal preference. Some women like the shorter leg.
If you do, look into these!
